One of the shops in Mill Street, just up from @Jade-clothing 's Saffron, always has a dog-bowl outside - and it's not even a pet-orientated shop.

The StreetView picture seems to be very early in the morning, so it's not there....

Cuffy to the Littleton Arms in Penkridge.

I've been to the Littleton Arms countless times over the years. I always found the place to be perfectly reasonable - beer, food and price. However, a couple of weeks ago I went there with my wife and daughter for lunch. It was a quiet Saturday afternoon and I patiently waited at the bar for over 10 minutes. During that time I watched the bar maid start a conversation with a friend and two managers having a discussion about takings / staff / wages in front of me. Not one of those people acknowledged me, as such I left.

I wrote a review on tripadvisor re: the above. The manager has since responded.

I would have expected the manager to have been apologetic and come up with some plausible excuse as to why I wasn't served. Oh no! The manager accused me of knowing someone that has been banned from the premises and has basically accused me of being a liar.

Absolutely shocking.

I will never set foot in the Littleton again.

I would no more trust TripAdvisor than I would believe Twatter represents public opinion.

I agree you need to take some of the posts on Tripadvisor with a 'pinch of salt', however my review was honest. Therefore, I didn't appreciate being called a liar by the manager.

No, I wasn't questioning your review. I know how the LA has changed over the past few months.

Just questioning the whole TripAdvisor/internet unbiased info premise.

... I know how the LA has changed over the past few months ...

I'm not sure that it has changed. On a number of occasions at lunchtimes over the last few years I have waited 10-15 minutes at the bar to be served, given up & walked out. I have not been the only person to walk out on these occasions.

Skills to the guys at FMS who replaced the Aux Drive belt on my car this morning, only costing me £42....great service from them....

£42 for a belt :o
For the sake of argument, let's say the belt cost £5. That means they charged £30 for labour. Add the VAT and you get £42.

That doesn't seem overpriced to me.

Of course you could do it yourself for just the cost of the part if you have the skill and the time. I have the skill to do it but not the time so set against the inconvenience of having the car off the road, I'd have paid the £30 for the labour myself and considered the job a good'un.

Fair enough. I think I'm just tight!

It is a one spanner five minute job on the majority of cars though, you don't need a workshop to change a belt :P

I want to give praise / thanks to Tesco's.

Yesterday a member of staff saw my OH carrying my 6 month old child out of the store during the heavy downpour. The member of staff stopped my wife and proceeded to get an umbrella and escorted my wife and 6 month old child to her car so neither would get wet.

A lovely gesture.

Cuffy to the female cashier serving me in Stafford Railway Building Society today.
The miserable sod hardly spoke at all and just plonked my cash and cheque across the counter, whilst looking the other way talking to her colleagues. Too busy having a discussion with the other staff about some problem they'd had . I said "Thank-you" as I picked my stuff up and left the counter..she never even replied.

They are all usually really pleasant and I've been with them for years. But if today had been my first visit I would be thinking again about going there .

Skill points to the lady's on the Cat Protection League stall in Stafford market....we bought a 50p hand-made catnip toy there today - now none of the cats are usually bothered by toys, but, all 3 of our cats are now obsessed with it....we will have to go back tomorrow & buy 2 more so that they don't have to share!

Out of that £30 labour, they will have to pay the person to do it, building rental, electricity, tax, national insurance and whatever other costs are incurred. It's not expensive.

Skill to Tim @ collectable records who's alway chatty and friendly when I go in. Even takes my complaints abut the ridiculously small size of his shop and lack of cup of tea and a chair to sit at while we chat with good grace!! And he still takes cheques :)

There was no chance of any floor today! I cannot believe the weight of vinyl hasn't sunk the whole shop. There was not an inch of space today..........
