soooo...the wife drove our daughter to school today and told me on return that there was a warning about tyre pressures on the dash.
I went out with the cigarette lighter powered inflator and set to work. Found one of the tyres very low on air. Turned on the compressor....once disconnected i could still hear air coming out from near the value. Oddly when i moved the valve laterally with my finger the leaking air stopped.
So i headed up to Mr Tyre where i usually get tyre related things sorted. Spoke to the chap on the desk and explained the predicament. "its a sensor problem, we don't stock them....get it from ford and we'll fit it"...end of...no ifs or but's even though I explained the thing with the valve.
Got in the car and went to ATS around the corner....Same thing....wouldn't even get off their arses to look at the car.
With air leaking at a vast rate i went to FMS, our usual haunt for general car issues. Spoke to Sam on the desk.
"oh i've had similar issues with my car which is a ford...its not the sensor its the valve", he said reaching over the desk for a bag of valves in a ford bag. "Leave it with us for 2-3 hours and we'll get it sorted...."
You know what ? It was the valve. All done by lunchtime, and only £18.
