Not sure if this crossing is still the same but it used to have the audible sounders when the Geen Man was lit. This is obviously an even more dangerous situation if a blind person is reliant upon the soundest to tell them it isn't safe to cross.
I personally hate the crossing opposite more, so always stick to that side of the road.
That may explain why I’ve noticed that the sound has been switched off on some of the crossings I’ve come across recently.
I've nearly been mown down several times there, it's only with being aware and managing a quick sprint that's kept me reaching the other side.Yes and I would agree, except practically nobody is stopping at this crossing. So something needs to be fixed.
That happened to me on the crossing by Green Hall a few weeks ago especially since I had the boy strapped to me really scary and made me very angryI'm au fait with most the crosssings in Stafford as I walk everywhere and I agree some of them are quite challenging. It's always wise to check the traffic and not rely on the green man. I nearly got run over once on the Sainsburys crossing when a driver drove straight through a red.
The brick wall does obscure people waiting to cross into town there - it's not much of an excuse, but crossing on the other side, where the White Lion was, is probably a safer bet. I've see a few brake-tests on the Green Hall side. It's probably less of an issue when the pedestrian is heading out-of-town. It could be worth crossing over by St Paul's...?That happened to me on the crossing by Green Hall a few weeks ago especially since I had the boy strapped to me really scary and made me very angry
Sorry to bang on re the Newport rd/station rd junction, but surely there is now an argument for a cluster bombing.....
Thought this might be worth a bump I've heard someone has been knocked over at this crossing today, or around there at least.
--Not confirmed, just hearsay at the moment
There was an incident on that stretch of Lichfield Rd but not a road traffic collision.
Oh I'm not sure where this person got seeing someone knocked over from then
