Dodgy telecoms company (Atlas Business Services)

They called my OH today and tried to threaten her again, refused to give name but it was the tosser that called himself John last time. Threatened to cut her off, she pointed out she was no longer with them. Then he said she now owed them 800 quid cancellation fee for leaving as she didn't cancel in writing, apparently that term was in the welcome pack that never arrived. They say it still counts as she can't prove they never sent it, she said he was full of shit and he hung up.

Seriously, what a dodgy bunch of bastards. I'm keeping my eye on the jobcentre website, if another position comes up I've got some holiday to take. Could have some right fun working there!

Stick a claim in with CISAS - should net you a nice £200 in compo and an apology letter.... not saying the winkers will ever give you either but if they don't then things will get really difficult for them which might be a result for you and everyone else.

please keep me posted too, I'm stuck with Sim Only, I've tried to get number transferred 3 times to XLN and Sim have blocked each time. maybe fourth time lucky. This is despite cisas awarding us compensation and requesting immediate reconnection! happy to post my email address if anyone wants to group together and add additional pressure.

Hi Wrighty38 - did you speak personally to someone at the ombudsman service? If so, do you have a telephone number. I've only been able to contact CISAS, which is an independent dispute resolution service accreditated by OFCOM.

Hi mate just came across this on a search tonight I myself am having problems with these people they phoned me at in July and said they could save me money spoke to the salesman and he said it would be unlimited broadband etc they then put me on contract and asked for direct debit details which I didn't give them said wife had the card and they said they would send details.
Never heard or received after so thought no more of it until was out at the beginning of August and got an email from bt saying sorry to see you go so I contacted them and they gave me Atlas details phoned them they said I was in a contract with them and if I wanted out I would have to pay 36 months fees. I told them I never received any information and they said they emailed me and posted me a welcome pack (this I received by email 2 days later although they did backdate it to the 24 July. Still to this day have not received a contract. Phoned numerous times but was told in basic I was stuck with them also told them is didn't have internet and they told me my bt router would not work (although salesman assured me it would and I wouldn't have to change anything) and they would give me Upton £30 to purchase a new one (this cost me £50 they said they would refund the £30 of my first bill). Two day later I was emailed a quarterly bill of 3 months fees £108 which I paid. Yesterday I received a bill for a months service of £156 of which £95 plus vat was excess internet charge. I phone them and was told they would sort it out but I heard nothing so emailed today and was told that they have listened to the original phone conversation and I was never told it was unlimited.
After that I cancelled my direct debit straight away but am siting here stressed right out and not knowing what to do.
Sorry if this is so long but just wanted to let you know your not the only one and if you have any ideas.
If I was close to Blackpool I would have visited them already but I'm all the way down in Cornwall.

My main reason for posting this thread was because I too was amazed nobody else had a problem with them, anyone this unprofessional must have a bad reputation. Of course Atlas Business Services is merely a trading name, the real company is called Reseller UK ltd. They have several trading names, I can only assume they cancel each after a bit of bad press and start another but all under reseller uk and all with the same phone number for a call center operating outside of Blackpool. Some of the alleged companies have a London address but the same phone number as the call centre, so guessing these are just fake offices where they forward your mail etc. for a small fee.

E.G. better-rates.co.uk uses this address:

But that appears to be this building:

So at only 344 square feet it somehow feels justified to also need the address 34 New House, obviously they just put anything in front and use it to retarget the mail. The fact that the phone numbers are the same proves they aren't there. The address used by Atlas certainly exists:

I can't tell that it is actually them inside without a visit, but they did advertise at the Blackpool job centre for telesales people. Here is an advert for another of their companies called sim-only.ltd.uk:

hey they've just phoned me back as they promised....Ben (account manager) I've said I've changed my mind due to my gut feeling....& after my research that I've done online. He was really surprised....shocked....didn't have anything to say other than "Oh"....:P

Got my letter from ombudsman today

What did it say?? I've just been conned in to signing up with them. My instinct told me to terminate my contract in the cooling off period which the lady told me to write it in an email. Now the next service provider BT are saying they're still holding my line and not releasing me. So I rang and the lady Kate confirmed on the phone that she has cancelled the contract yet BT still can't take over. Fuming! Help....oh and they've charged me £107 already even though I haven't used their service yet.

Don't pay a penny! Get onto the ombudsman and log your case, the more there the better. Request in writing a copy of all recordings the company holds of you, send recorded post at the least. Did you receive the elusive router and welcome pack? My OH never did.
