There has been some very limited extraction, resulting in the flashes, etc. - but the Marshes are largely just that - marsh, meadow, flood plain, amenity area, swamp, development opportunity, etc..I thought most or even all doxey marshes was made. Isn`t the marshes the result of a filled in quarry of sorts ?

If the quagmire is as deep as it seems, how did they ever manage to build a railway across it, and where/how where did the foundations come from? River sow navigable?

Today, I bumped into a couple who had chosen to include it in their holiday itinerary, all the way from Australia.
