I normally lay my bottles down but I though to hell yesterday and stood them up.

You were lucky, in most supermarkets once they've asked they HAVE to see ID or no sale. Don't blame the till monkey, blame the laws that make them liable to the tune of several grand in fines if they serve someone underage. These people are on minimum wage, and already have to deal with the public all day which having done so for more years than I care to remember I know sucks.

Your latter reponse was excellent though, the only way to change company policy is by hitting profits. I suggest everyone who gets ID'd does the same, especially over the coming week.

Sorry to bring up a recent sore point, but every bugger in Tesco this morning was standing their bottles upright!!! I felt like putting on my running Shoes going up and down the checkouts placing all the bottles down flat and being the saviour of all the checkout personnel. But then I thought f**k it

Sorry to bring up a recent sore point, but every bugger in Tesco this morning was standing their bottles upright!!! Kids are so soft these days!! When I was at school, a lad got caught making Kung Fu throwing stars in metalwork..
