Gardening/Vegetable growing tips

Got some toms, and hopefully lots of spare chillies if anyone has a use. I have 20 toms and about 60 chilli seedlings of various varieties on the go so doubt I can eat them all! My toms are all cherries (million F1 or something) if that makes any difference. Not really bothered with anything else!

Ordered the potato kit, was gonna get the strawberries too but unsure how you grow them. Told to use some weird pot with holes in the side for best results, any ideas?

Last year when I attempted to grow strawberries I used some bags my mum brought me from a garden centre I could hang off a wall/fencing and they had holes in the side that the strawberries came out of etc...
Don't know if this helps

Anyone wanting to start growing veg can get five free packets of seeds (tomato, beetroot, lettuce, butternut squash and carrot) HERE. There's also advice on what to do.

Can anyone make use of chicken manure that's semi-rotted in with woodshavings? I hear it's as good composting agent?

If its of any use I have several sack fulls.

yeah, good point. Maybe back to the dripper system with a short sharp blast of water once a day then. Will look into the matting idea though, thanks.
The wilko thing would work with something like that i was going to attempt it myself this year. The timer things arent cheap though.
Seems lidl will have one for £12.99, may be worth a look? Also a mechanical (i.e. one hit, up to 2 hours) one for £4.99.

Well here are a few of the chillies:

The others are actually a tad bigger, but I don't have a good pic as they are in the grow room. Got a pic of that, but was a cold morning so was a bit of condesnsation on it. The ones at the GFs are growing a bit better TBH, bah!

The toms are coming along nicely, need sticking in grow bags now I think. Some are about 6 inches high now, how many should you stick in a grow bag? Also got some onions to stick in the ground, must get around to that!

Looking good. Normally about 3 to a normal sized grow bag i would say. I'll have to get some pics of my own to post.

Well I've got 4 about that size, and 16 more about 4" high or so. Will prob have a few of those going if needed, all cherries. Not like the greenhouse is big enough! More interested in the chillies, of which I have about 60 covering 7 varieties.
