This sounds really cute. I'm going to check for an Andriod app. Seems like you have to carry things around to replace the cache. What kind of things do you take with you?
You dont have to carry anything, but the rule is if you take someting make sure you replace it! I personally just sign the log book and move travel bugs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Travel_Bug)around!

Thanks for the quick replies!

Timeflies - we searched for one on the canal at Baswich which we didn't locate, but guess to be a reasonable size as it has a container within and we know of others who have swapped things over. We'll try some of the sites you've suggested - if only to get the youngest one back on track! We have registered with www.geocaching.com and have the app on the phone, so hopefully we'll get some success soon!

When looking for caches look for something out of the ordinary, for example twigs and small branches that look out of place. 99% of the time a cache will be hidden underneath.

Thanks Wizzard. That is a good point, we didn't want to disturb the undergrowth too much, maybe we need to be more active in our looking!

The gf and I have tried to find the 'Stafford House of Correction' cache a couple of times but no joy. Anyone here had any joy can give us a clue?

I'm just about to place a new cache on the chase, nice easy one next to Camp Road. There have been a few new caches in Stafford in the last few weeks. Has proved very good for getting out and about. Would recommend the "Over and Under series" which takes you on a two mile canal walk around Baswich.

Number 1.

We found number 2 the other day whilst on the north side of town. If the cache looks the same then might have more luck with number1.

Thanks for the tip. Found my second Clog & Knocker yesterday. Had no idea there was an 18th century trainline and station in Stafford!

Just a quick note to say thank you to WildwoodPaul for his hints and tips - we went out yesterday with the kids again and found our first cache. Needless to say, my 7 yr old son is now really excited and itching to get out and find others. It gives us an added incentive for him to come out with us when we're walking the dog!!

Looking forward to finding lots of others in due course!

Any ideas how to find the first in a series without clicking and reading each one?
Some people do put the links for the series in each description. Easiest way is to load the map and scan over, they should be numbered if in a series.

Still waiting on the new cache to go live, it's got a brand new travel bug in it !

I had my first geocaching experience on Sunday. I wasn't very good at it initially but that's mainly because I didn't really know what I was looking for. However, I soon got the hang of things and ended up finding a grand total of 5 in a few hours. Quite satisfying :)
