At least it hasn't turned into Hershey. Have you ever tried any of that? It's like candle wax that's been held over a cup of cocoa.

Yup, sad day for chocolate lovers. Be interesting to see what changes are made, most yank stuff can't even legally be called chocolate due to its piss poor cocoa content.

Sad day. How many truly British companies are there left now?

I wonder what the company will be called now? It's been Cadbury Brothers Limited, Cadbury-Schweppes, Cadbury Trebor Bassett and is currently Cadbury UK.

Thats because normal chocolate melts in double quick time over there so i think they pack it out with sawdust or nail clippings or something :barf:

Me, too. Not only has Cadbury's chocolate fallen from grace and become 'just another' value-free brand, but the Kraft brand will be one to avoid, as they will inevitably become responsible for moving most of the 5,000 jobs in Bournville abroad.

Just like Winnie the Pooh, who now, thanks to Disney and despite being born in Sussex, speaks with an American accent, Cadbury shall become another reminder of a better time. How sad.

To boycott Kraft I shall be avoiding their other brands, such as Milka and Toblerone, not easy, but there are loads of others, too.

Does anyone remember Terry's of York? Bought by Cadburys in the early 90's and closed down by 2000.

But Terry's is already a Kraft brand - how did that happen?

Apart from toblerone and oreos there are literally no items on that list that I actually consume, let alone regularly so boycotting them is going to be a doddle. Generally only eat toblerone when i get gifted a bar at christmas, and oreos I can easily live without.

Thank god they sold Birdseye though else I'd have been f***ed lol

The Terry's Chocolate Orange is still about, though. I used to get one for my sister every Xmas, not last year though, and never again.

I think the chocolate orange is the hardest item to stop eating. Most of the other Kraft products have alternatives, but the chocolate orange...

Kraft happen to make up the biggest contract at my place of work so please dont boycott it or i'll be out of a job and back on the benefits system. And that sucks much worse than bad chocolate.

I think there's an supermarket own-brand choc orange, though. Will ask SWMBO sometime.

Kraft seem to have bought Terry's of York in 1993, dropped the 'York' and then steadily wound the place down until they shut it in 2005. Fairly standard procedure in these sorts of cases.
was a entire program devoted to the closure of the terrys factory in york when it closed down on look north (bbc local news)

if we boycott cadburys chocolate though, wont we be forcing a downturn in their business and putting the kybosh on the company even quicker than kraft would? who does that help?
