I'm off out to give blood

unfortunately nothing in life is perfect and bad things do occasionally happen. however, it would appear that the majority of people havent' had a bad experience whilst giving blood. how many times had you given blood before you had the one bad experience? seems a shame to stop doing so positive just because of one bad experience

I'm no gynaecologist...
I got my first badge/shield thing for my first 10 pints. I guess in total I had been about 18/19 times. I had issues before with bruising and pain following the blood letting.
I was also a touch fed up when I found out that out of date blood is stripped for the plasma and sold to European health agency's.
Its a shame that they don't pay people to donate like they do in America, especially as they make money from it.

there is some pain, but I don't really think it's that bad. my arm still aches ever so slightly 2 days after giving blood, but it's not so painful that it's inhibiting my way of life. i've played the drums since i gave blood, i've carried on doing press ups, been shopping, and i'm contemplating going the gym

and for me it's a shame that you see it from a profiteering point of view. without wishing to open up a massive can of worms, the NHS is underfunded so if they make a bit of money from it i'm happy for them to keep it (n.b. i'd imagine that any profit from the selling of plasma/ other components of the blood is far outweighed by the considerable cost of collecting the blood and storing it)
