Anyone remember The Junction Hotel/Inn on the Newport Road Bridge? well next Sunday (19 April) is the 50th Anniversary of its closure. Originally built in 1838 as The Grand Junction Inn and Posting House specifically for the new railway passengers. When it closed in 1965 William and Doreen Gee moved to the Red Lion Bradley. Some may even remember Jackson Walker who held the license in 1961-62 before moving to the Littleton Arms in Penkridge. His kids Alec and Jill Walker came from the Junction at Chasetown and resurreccted the Greyhound in County Road in 2002. You can find more about these and other pubs in Books 1 and 2 of The Inns and Alehouses of Stafford - have a look at website www.john-connor.co.uk
