i think it looks absolutely amazing and it makes me a bit jealous lol.. my htc desire is lovely an' all, but it just can't touch the new iphone in terms of.. well, everything lol.. the new screen looks gorgeous!

still, given the choice i'd defo stick with my desire, simply because it allows you to install unsigned apps, and getting hold of dodgy ones is so easy :P

The idea of being forced to hack something you've paid for to do what you want it to do just doesn't sit well with me.

Very surprised by DB's post especially the bit above.

As with Tek, I would be interested to learn what it does that is so much better than the Desire. Not a great deal from what i've read.

This isn't an iPhone bashing post but IMHO this is more a "catch up to our competitors" than a leap ahead / groundbreaker like the first iPhone.

Oh and the HTC Evo comes out at a similar time as the iP4 so I heard... could be interesting.

Finally... does no one else think the new iPhone looks ugly compared to the rounded edge form of the 3GS?

Have to agree with gk here - the new shiny camera brings it into line with 2005 model nokia/sony erikson phones, the new screen brings it into line with the 2007 HTC Touch HD...oh no... wait... it doesn't :P

Flash works great on my Hero too ;)

doesn't do loads more, but it just looks like a nicer experience imo.. obviously, this is subjective..

i sort of agree, whilst disagreeing lol.. as in, the first iphone wasn't a groundbreaker imo, because it promised so much and delivered so little.. it wasn't even 3G, and couldn't do MMS or bluetooth - things that even the most basic phones had been doing for years! they finally got it right with the 3GS imo, and this just takes it to a new level..

htc evo is basically the same hardware as the desire, except it is wimax compatible (which is only in the US atm).. see here for a comparison (nexus one is basically a desire)..

no, i love the new look! i thought the old one looked a bit childish an plasticky.. i love the new design!

you're right, it doesn't - it pisses all over it from a great height! htc touch hd is "only" 480x800, the new iphone is 960x640! when you're talking about a screen that is only a few inches in size, that is a huge difference.. plus the htcs all use amoled screens, which are impossible to see in any kind of daylight.. the iphone uses.. erm.. something else, that i can't quite remember off the top of my head, but all i know is friends' iphones are a lot easier to see than my desire :P

you must have a magical hero, cos on my desire & the gf's hero it works reasonably, at best.. i agree with jobs that flash is a resource hog that holds the internet back by forcing developers to use adobe's bloated proprietory software.. that's fine for dual-core, multi-gigahertz PCs, but it's just not at all suitable for content delivery on a mobile device..

the dealbreaker for me is, as tek-monkey says, having to hack your phone to get cracked apps is a pain in the arse, i like the way i can install any old shit on my desire..

i just wish htc wouldn't stick Sense on their phones, which means you have to wait until they pull their finger out and release their own version of android before you can update your phone.. they've already announced that they will not be releasing any updates for the hero beyond 2.1, and god knows when that will even arrive.. i just hope enough people have bought desires to warrant them releasing regular updates for that!

My contract with o2 is up for renewal - as luck would have it yesterday, so I'm sitting tight and waiting for the notification from o2 to say I can go in and upgrade.

Really liked my iphone 3G, and althought I don't use it as my main phone anymore (i decided to go Android and have a HTC Hero) I'm a gadget geek and must have the latest technology!

whoops lol.. as someone in the comments section said, this one must have slipped through the net because all the field testing was done using protective cases to disguise the iphone from prying eyes..

looks like one of those fruity rubber band accessories is basically a necessity!

Sold out when I got there at 3 :( Big "sorry" sign outside. Doh!

There's a couple on the display stand to play with though.

You's seriously need to watch this: iPhone4 vs HTC Evo youtube thread post

Made Me LAFF :D
ugh, this is being posted everywhere and it just isn't funny.. seriously, this over-zealous anti-apple-fanboyism is every bit as annoying as pro-apple-fanboyism..

i own exactly 1 apple product (my computer), i don't even own an ipod, my phone is an HTC and i love it, i have 2 windows PCs in the house, so i definitely wouldn't call myself a fanboy.. but i know a decent product when i see one, and the iphone 4 is definitely one.. it's far from perfect ("don't hold it like that" lol) but then again, few things are..

the whole "evo has a bigger screen" thing is bollocks; would you rather have a 23" LCD running at 1280x800, or a 21" LCD running at 1920x1200? this is especially pertinent on a small, handheld device where screen real-estate is a premium..

the iphone pisses geeks off because all of a sudden, all of the cool stuff that you used to have to be a beard-stroking, linux-kernel-compiling, wow-playing nerd to do can be done by your dad now.. geeks hate the apple model because it's a closed system, but it's exactly that closed system which means it's a piece of piss to use, and all of a sudden your gran can check out lemonparty and shoot at angry birds just like everyone else, without having to ask for help..
