We had an interesting chat with a taxi driver on this subject last night. He seemed to think it was the passenger's fault for not checking the licencing badges before getting in and didn't think the marshall's outside of Chigargo's should check whether cabs are licenced.

Sting operation targets illegal taxis in Stone A crackdown on taxis operating illegally in Stone town centre has landed 12 drivers in court. A joint sting operation was carried out by Stafford local policing team and licensing officers from Stafford Borough Council on Saturday 7 October. The operation targeted taxis illegally plying for hire in the Granville Square area.
The move followed numerous complaints from members of the public and other taxi drivers who are legitimately licensed to operate in the borough. During the operation, 12 taxi drivers were seen to pick up fares they were not entitled to. They were interviewed under caution, reported for the offences and face court appearances in the coming weeks.
