Just watched Dr No, apart from the poor continuity i.e. most of the location filming was done on the north coast of Jamaica where the suggestion that it was the environs of Kingston. It is a cracking Bond film and ooo that Honey Ryder......

I am reliably informed that thooose long hands were only available due to an almighty cock-up in the props dept at Pinewood Studios eons before the making of this film. It seems that in preparation of the bio-pic 'Reach for the Sky'some young oik made them in error , suffice to say he had little future in the film industry....

Doh! i've errored again, From Russia with Love is on today not tomorrow as i said earlier. When I read the book Bond doesn't turn up until halfway through. The highlight for me when reading Ian Flemng's masterpiece is the effortless mastery Bond displays when ordering a Turkish breakfast of yogurt, green figs and jet black coffee.. priceless......

Just watched Casino Royale starring Daniel Craig,i can only assume that the action scenes were choreographed by someone from Hong Kong, where they were perhaps more familiar with any film with Bruce Lee in it.....

i think its a good thing that bond is doing some kung fu chops (satirical austin powers reference!). its just another stage in the 'reimagining' of bond. pierce's bond did well at re-launching the franchise with high octane action (unfortunately it got a little sh*t after goldeneye), and now its a more back to basics (in terms of technology) and relying on surroundings, which imo is more what a modern agent would be about.

i know the films are based on the books and to truly capture flemings character you would probably have to set the films back in the day. from a producers point of view that isnt going to make money any more so the franchise needs to be modernised and competative with other spy / agent films. one name springs to mind. bourne (i know, i know, the already cliched comparison  ).

the original bourne literature by robert ludlum is 'back in the day' excellence too, but it had to be modernised to be interesting today. i think it raised the bar and the bond franchise had no option but compete.

its a good thing that bond is kicking plenty of arse in a 'im hard mohammed bruce lee' stylee yo.

you should watch Quantum of Solace. er Solero? er Quality of Sausage? anyway daft title aside, there's a scene in there which reveals bond to be a raging alcoholic. he's drowning his vespa sorrows with many many vespas. that should wet your bond lips ;)
