I am sure that we will try our very hardest to make sure Stafford Forum receives the maximum coverage possible in respect to StaffordLMHR. It is a very, very kind act the forum has done in providing the means to secure that this event is to go ahead. Lunar Scorpion and I are meeting next week to thrash out some ideas and get the ball rolling faster.

Of course, anyone who has a talent which could be useful to StaffordLMHR and they would be happy to donate some time towards this most worthy cause, please do get in touch! Collaboration is the key to making events like this go with a bang!

I'm working on a CSS layout for it using the colours of the logo: yellow, pink, black, white and possibly grey. I've discovered the exact yellow but I'm having trouble finding the pink colour so may have to settle for a close match.

My sincere apologies for the lack of progress... I have been doing a little networking, but nothing concrete.

This has regrettably not been my top priority the last few weeks... I haven't been feeling too great and as part of New Deal I have to go on various obligatory courses or I get my money stopped. I intend on following the advice of various aquaintances and professionals to go back onto sickness benefits so hopefully I won't have to deal with this bullpoo anymore...

Anyway, there will be a meeting this week hopefully - details TBC very soon... There are lots of things to chase up and I intend to have an anti-fascist group set up so that we can recruit at the event. It would be useful to delegate some tasks and generally get a bit more organised!

Easier said than done, especially with mental health issues. I have been filling in application forms but the urge to cause physical injury to myself has prevented me from completing one.

Don't worry, I am not offended - it is a simple answer to a complicated problem, much like sending people "back to their own county" would solve this country's problems...

racism != facism.. it's a shame that you have to bring a political agena to this event.. don't get me wrong - i don't believe for a minute that anyone round here is "pro-facism", but i just think it's a shame you have to turn a good event with a single, simple message into a "recruitment drive".. did admin know you were going down this route when they handed over the money to get you started?

so far i'm not sure if we're seeing a decent return on the investment

(i say "we" because the money donated was raised by forumites by buying t-shirts, via the generosity of rich upsetter)

this thread should be used for any discussion of the LMHR event, which is why i tried to nip the "get a job" comments in the bud and redirect them to a different thread!

my point about the introduction of political parties/rallies is still valid, imo..

If people are opposed to Stafford Forum's association with the event, it is a little late to bring it up now, don't you think?! The fact is that racism and fascism are linked, and I would be truly amazed if someone can separate issues into nice little 'political' and 'non-political' piles! I am perplexed as to why the whole "political agenda" thing has only come up as a problem now, since this thread started with a rather long post which was mostly a rant about the BNP... In other words: WTF?!

I think it would be nice if you could update this thread regularly to let us know what you've been up to and how the organising is going. Who you have booked, any media coverage you have got interested, who else is involved, etc. Once a week would be plenty, or even once a fortnight! An event like this must take a huge amount of organising, so it would be nice to hear the story of how it unfolds

Things are moving along...

The tickets should be available in a couple of weeks at £5 each (there are no concessions as they will not be sold at box office so don't want to complicate things) - will let you know when they are and how you can get them.

The line up is currently being finalised, so once we have this sorted we (I) can concentrate on the important stuff! There will be a couple of speakers on stage between the bands, and various anti-racist/anti-fascist stalls (hopefully some information on race hate crime and how to report it, etc).

There will also be a stall for Stafford Forum publicity - there is no rush, but may I leave this for Admin and minions to sort out?
