I can see exactly what will happen. Badly written contract, get to ‘end date’, company say we’ve used up the budget you need to cough up more, tax payer rinsed for more money.

The pace or lack of, in delivering this is embarrassing

At least it's half done! Imagine if it was half undone...
Oh we've had that with the tree drainage being ripped up a week after it was all laid.
The gas have been digging the place up, luckily just before they laid the slabs rather than just after.

Not much to see this week , a few more slabs and they have opened up the centre walkway again.

No update next week, music festival 🤘🎸

We went past the other day and saw a few workmen dithering about. Nothing to see here. No work actually being done.

By comparison, we spend a bit of time in Spain and one Autumn a few years back, we read in the local newspaper of plans to build a beach boardwalk connecting over 160 km of the Costa Del Sol.

We were so excited for this, it was going to connect the whole coast, it would enable people to walk or jog, to the next beach bar, to the next community.

Imagine our surprise when we visited the next Summer, (only 10 months after reading of the plans) the boardwalk was 70% completed.
No dithering about, let’s do it, let’s build it. Let’s crack on and build 100km of boardwalk. Yes, it’s hot, so what?

We like to walk it early morning and there are always workers about, sweeping it, keeping it tidy. Stafford Council could learn a lot.
Anyway here’s a pic of a section of it.

Yes, it looks like a postcard with the beach, blue skies and stunning crystal waters.

But does it have the nations largest branch of B and M.

Surely Stafford must win hands down.

Well, Stafford council can't even get people to cut the grass sensibly. I was walking down Old Croft Road earlier and the contractors were cutting the grass with strimmers. Grass everywhere, on the road and will probably end up down the drains clogging those up.
A mower would be faster, less noisy.

Much as it saddens me to. say this, and it genuinely does, if erected in this country, how long before it was set light to, or ripped up and ended up flogged at a boot sale, or on-line? :(

Stafford Borough Council do not use contractors to cut the grass…it is done in-house by Streetscene.

Much of the Paseo doesn't look like that.

70% sounds great until you realise the other 30% is what is usually known as 'problematic'.

How do you currently enjoy the Paseo between Fuengirola and Benalmadena?

These are entirely different issues, based upon entirely different parameters.

Yes there are some areas that are complex, otherwise perhaps the contractors would have completed more than 70% at that time.

We haven’t walked along the Paseo Maritimo for a while, in fact we rarely venture into Fuengirola unless it’s for a quick game of crazy golf or to visit Dunnes.

The section of boardwalk that we walk the most is from Riviera to La Cala, that’s our favourite section with a lovely choice of chiringuitos. We occasionally walk the other way towards Cabopino, but even that has a small section not finished (problematic) where you have to come off the boardwalk, walk the beach then rejoin the boardwalk further on.

I personally think it’s a wonderful addition to the coast, but my main reason for posting was to highlight what can be done in a short time by people who get their act together. Unlike the issues around Market Square.

Sorry but this doesn’t look particularly troublesome. Wind will disperse some of it and what does end up in a drain won’t be significant.

Absolutely! A strong gust would dispense it.

Couldn't agree more Dogged, I do wonder sometimes about what some people find unacceptable, and what they need to draw to others attention; and while I am on that subject, don't get me started on the 'Unacceptable Examples Of Driving' thread; ..... as we live and breath? ..... now see what you've started Dogged?
