the kid has been off school today as she was poorly. Heating has been on all day and I’ve just looked at the smart meter display. Anyone know where I can sell a kidney?
Son got back home from work late last night feeling ill , so whacked his heating on before going to bed. Forgot to turn it off and was horrified looking at his smart meter when he woke up.

Glad we've managed to carry our fixed Oct 2023 rate over from the old house, sons rates since his fixed one ended are rather scary!

This morning I found out why my blood sugar meter keeps showing an error code with the word "low" flashing in the corner.

I'd assumed it meant low battery and have been cursing Duracell batteries for constantly failing.

Upon googling the alarm code it turns out that the ambient temperature is too low for the meter to operate. I've kept my heating to a minimum overnight whilst tucked up in extra blankets but I forgot to get a blanket for my meter 😂

Should have gone to the bar with hubby to order the carvery meals when we took our visitors out for lunch. Got to the carvery counter to be given side plate size plates instead of the usual dinner plates.....he'd only gone and ordered 4 'small' carverys by mistake

Held my yorkshire pud in my hand whilst trying to load the tiny plate mountain high. 😂

Well, with the tedious predictability of a stopped clock being right twice a day, the car went wrong again the week before we go on holiday in it. This happens every time and normally the dealer can fit it in and sort it before we go. Not this time...

The issue this time, is that the sound generator that operates at low speed to warn careless pedestrians of its approach has stopped working. So you'd think you could simply proceed with caution in pedestrian heavy locations. But no. Instead you get a flashing yellow light on the dashboard all the time and at speeds below 20mph a constant bloody foghorn going off inside the car, in case I didn't realise there was a problem.

Rang my usual dealer at Cheshire Oaks. They can't fit it in until Friday. We leave Thursday morning. Rang Shrewsbury, Walsall and even the useless feckers in Stafford who can't look at it until January.

Not happy, so out of sheer desperation, I rang the dealer nearest to where we are going on holiday, in Aix-en-Provence. No problem, said the service manager, we'll pick the car up from you Saturday lunchtime and hopefully have it back to you by close of play on Monday and leave you a car whilst we have it. Oh and would you like me to talk you through the procedure for disabling the warnings?

I could have kissed him if he wasn't 950 miles away.

Had a big delivery of north Staffs oatcakes whizzed down the motorway from Stafford yesterday . :yay: Just driven around to give son's quickly , before the falling snow becomes too thick , to push a pack through his letterbox.

Years ago being brought up in Hanley for months on end (while mum was in Groundslow hospital) , going to the corner oatcake shop to buy hot freshly made "o'cakes" to go with brekkie , never thought I'd be so excited to be able to actually get hold of some again!

Cheese & bacon oatcakes for breakfast , and the freezer filled with a supply ready for our traditional xmas and boxing day breakfast :D

He should absolutely get a proper programmable thermostat, most of them allow you to do a limited “boost” of the heating for an hour or two

Or get a smart one, those let you set how long to override the schedule for.

We have a 3 bed semi, thanks to all the smart tech attached to our central heating we use half the annual national average in gas. No idea if it’s paid itself off yet but it definitely will over the next few months.

This morning's walk over the Chase was pleasantly tourist free for a Sunday morning. Chilly though and worthy of two mugs of OXO on returning home.

Now, according to p jr we have to spend time in the garage swapping the seats out of his car for some leather and heated jobbies he found at a show a couple of months ago. Then we have to give it the once over, again, before I take it to be MOTd tomorrow. At least I'll have a warm bum when doing that...

My clients have made it clear that they expect to be over-indulging for the foreseeable future, so I felt obliged to make preparations.

This should get them through the festive period.

I issued a smoke signal, to alert them, but I was under surveillance anyway...
