Not to mention the potential damage to your credit rating if the address should get black listed.
I wouldn’t get in touch with her, just return to sender as “not known at this address”
You may say, well I have no intention of borrowing any money again so it doesn't matter. However when the utility companies get wind of a poor credit rating to a property they provide services to they may well put you on a prepayment meter, with all the grief and extra cost to you that will entail.

I repeatedly received a letter for someone who never lived at my address, certainly not after 1980 and probably not before. The return 'address' was just a postcode. Investigation of this suggested the first letter contained a speeding fine. I returned it, with an explanatory note on the envelope. 'They' continued to pursue the target at my address. I returned these with stroppier notes. He then got a court summons. I attended the court building, causing some disturbance and suggested that these might stop being sent to me. I did get no more after that.

By this stage, I was aware of the vehicle that was involved and my subconscious spotted it in the street one day. The driver was there and turned out to be the named person on the envelopes and he had no idea that any of this was going on. The error in the address was just that the house number was wrong. No other data kept by the authorities had used that number, as he had received his road tax reminder during the time I was getting his speeding fines.

Just had a word with hubby. Going to do that. Just write on return to sender not known at this address if it arrives.

Still getting bloody hospital appointments through for her in her previous name , she's collected ones on previous occasions but still not corrected her name and address with them after the first couple so those have been going 'return to sender now' along with his post. (And strangely some post keeps coming in his surname but a different first name. Those are being bunged back in the box as well)

Spent part of this weekend in Lincoln, not by choice. A friend was visiting his mother in the USA and was told if he leaves again he loses his green card, so he's staying there. Means we have a whole flat to strip out and pack up, sending the most important bits on to him and getting rid of the rest.

We're meant to be going yo Latvia in a few weeks and haven't really prepared for that yet, so it's less than ideal timing.
Anyone know a cheap storage place near Stafford? We aint got room for all this here!

Got a horrendous thunder & lightening storm right ahead , shaking the house and being pelted with hail stones. Just got back in time from our lunch break walk before the deluge.

Was like a scene from a horror movie . 😂 Decided to have a nose into a nearby really old little church during our walk. Sign on the heavy wooden door said 'Open' . Tried pushing and couldn't get in, so joked the powers above didn't want me inside. Then a massive clap of thunder and flash of lightening as I had a 2nd attempt. :o😂

An investigation is underway into the cause of an early morning blaze - which saw fire crews tell the public to 'avoid the area'. Police, paramedics and fire crews were called out to the trouble-plagued former Jobcentre on Stafford's Greyfriars Place just after 1am this morning.
The fire service say 'several appliances' were scrambled to the scene while during the height of the incident a tweet was sent out urging families to stay away from the area. And paramedics were required to check over a man in his 30s.
The stretch was fully back open this morning where a police investigation is now underway. A spokeswoman for Staffordshire Police said: "We attended the scene with colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service.
"Fire crews extinguished a small fire within the property. A man, in his 30s, was checked over by paramedics.
"We worked with fire crews to secure the property and left the scene a short time later. Inquiries are continuing."
The blaze marks yet another incident at the former Jobcentre. In 2020 there was a blaze while in the year before, police launched an appeal after a teenager had been assaulted there. It has been branded an "eyesore" by some and sits on one of the gateways into the County Town.
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called by the fire service to a fire at a building on Greyfriars Place in Stafford just before 1am.
"An ambulance and paramedic officer were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found one male patient who was assessed by ambulance staff but did not require any treatment and was discharged at the scene."
Anyone with information should call Staffordshire Police on 101.

There’s a smallish self storage place at Hixon. I can’t remember the name but it’s on Church rd & is fairly new.
Edit.
Doh, would you believe Hixon Security Storage. 🤦‍♂️

Asking for advice if anyone has experience the cost of making wills lately ......Going to ring around myself tomorrow, but don't want to get ripped off.

We had our wills written years ago by someone advertising in the guilldhall for abiout £35. Going to change it now that son has grown up .

.Son has enquired about cost with a solicitor in town today about making a simple will himself. Quoted £250 for writing cheapest most simple will......is that about the going rate now , or would you expect to find cheaper?

He has also asked about making a pre-nup to make sure he doesn't lose half his house and possessions that he's worked so hard for if things (hopefully not, but got to be prepared) go pear shaped once his girlfriend moves in. Been told that's a seperate process with a different department to the will writing solicitor. What would you expect to reasonably expect to pay for one of those?

If it really is that dead simple (ie “go to my spouse, if they’re not around split it between my children equally”) then believe it or not you can just buy a will kit off Amazon.

My mum’s will was an Amazon will, it worked as intended.

As for pre-nups… I’d be more worried about the fallout of making a pre-nup than anything else! The suggestion doesn’t always go down well

True on both counts.

Regarding the will, the crucial thing is to get it properly witnessed. If you want you can simply right a statement of what you want to happen to your estate after your death, on the back of an envelope. But get it witnessed.

That was the part he was worried about, but she was quite OK about it yesterday when he brought it up .

He's got to get through a fortnight's holiday this month, meeting 20+ of her family for the first time while they're there , first. :D
