We got to the queue just as it reopened...
How long did it take you to get through it once opened @Lucy ?
Luckily we set off earlier than checking out time, so M5 and surrounding roads hadn't built up quite so much by then. Still miles of queues but would have been worse if starting off later. A38 was quite a good run once we reached it and got through the motorway island chaos , phone took us same way as good diversion signs. Used it as a sight seeing tour, and lovely to get back onto an empty motorway to then whizz to Taunton Dene services.
Witnessed some crazy driving afterwards though as some were making up for lost time!

We got off at Junction 28 as we saw the queue just after and back on at 27, so didn't take us any longer really.

Nice timing! Everything was being diverted off at 27 when the motorway was closed completely there and back on at 26 . Didn't help everything getting off with the exit slip road traffic lights at the island only letting a few motorway vehicles off at a time, and when they were on green the island was so blocked up nothing was going anywhere fast.

I came down the M5 from Stourbridge this morning after being summoned to family gathering over the weekend. Got off at Junction 27 to head west at about 11am. Good quiet run all the way down, bit of fog down as far as Worcester but then it cleared. Of course, I missed most of the journey because there was not much traffic, so I put the cruise control on and then had a nap for the rest of the way to junction 27. (You turn off here and head for Barnstaple and then Bude.)
I love cruise controls, who would have thought you could just press a button and then turn in for a couple of hours.

I tried paddleboard-ing this weekend on Rudyard lake. It was excellent. Very enjoyable and something I will be doing again. That said I haven't used muscles effectively in a number of years so I am feeling it now. That was Saturday.
Sunday I went and looked at planes at Manchester airport viewing park. I like planes and it hurts no one, so that was lovely. M56 was closed though so that was a nice way to see Altrincham.

We would appreciate a photo, or two of his little face looking at all the animals, please. Unless he does as one of mine did, slept all the way round!
Well here he is about to leave!

I witnessed a man in Sainsburys complaining about a section being moved this morning and asking to see the manager. Took me right back to working in retail and having to deal with stupid customer complaints and the ones who would find any reason to do so, like the guy who once asked if we'd made the aisles narrower?! (We hadn't)

People underestimate the patience you have to have to work in any job that involves contact with the general public.

🙄 the customers had enough of a meltdown when we swapped the world foods isle with the oil/vinegar & herb isle...

It's because of the Government's introduction of not promoting High fat, salt or sugar goods, a lot of stock will be moved to new locations in the next few days, they were just starting the move as I left last night....

I was looking for scones (doing a shop for my parents), noticed it was all eggs and bakery stuff there now. Thought "huh, I wonder where it's moved to?" Took about 5 steps onwards and found it and then didn't think any more about it. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard this guy asking to see the manager about it ("Whose idiotic idea was it to move the pastries?!")

I once had a customer return some seville oranges as they were very bitter :bravo:
