Delivered all of my books bar 9 to katherine house so as they might be put to some use.
I'm doing a tip/Katherine House run this afternoon so might sort out a few books. Oxfam usually get my decent stuff while KH get my unwanted (unread) Xmas presents and picture/reference books.

eta If anyone wants a 4 foot tall wooden plinth, I'll be dropping one off at KH.

Etaa If anyone wanted the plinth, i suspect it's gone. A lady was carrying it to the desk as we were about to leave. (I wonder how much they got for it.)

The temptation was to go buying things whilst I was there but I resisted. My wife couldnt do it, so the bookshelves are still full, except there are no longer stacks of books throughout the house.

That's always the risk, though I shall be checking the bookshelves when I'm at KH even though I've more than enough unread books, paper and electronic.

My "problem" is that I don't read fiction so there's never any reason to get rid of a book once I've read it - i just hang on to it for reference - so the number of books I've got just grows. The only time they're culled is when I decide the internet is a better source of information and so the book is just taking up space.

Well the books I delivered are 95% non fiction, lots of biographies.

Mortgage lenders are tight bastards.

A whole £35 off our mortgage this renewal. Why? Because our affordability went down despite taking home more since I switched from sole-trader to Ltd and split my income with the wife. Work that one out.

Still, not going to stop us getting the bathroom, aircon and fascias done.

Well, I have finally got around to getting some of my shit together.

I just have to post it off to Rugby now. At least the return envelope is self-sealing, I wasn't looking forward to licking it.

It is a biennial competition, like a cross between Twister and Bingo, but with some harsh forfeits for any false moves.

I didn't win anything last time and I find it rather unlikely that I would be pumping 'occult blood' around my veins.

Gotten involved in a 'discussion about whether we should walk around tooled up for self defence. I'm in the, that's the route to madness and America camp with people killing each other. One response I just got was what if it was my daughter. I wouldn't want my kids tooled up either. And people wonder why we have kids carrying weapons around if this is their parents attitude.

A handgun worth carrying will weigh towards three pounds - carry that weight around all day in a quickly accessible manner and see when you start to get fed up with it.

You won't go far wrong with a penguin suit and an RPG.

General consensus from their side is they are going with a can of deep heat spray for general defence and a lighter for when they need to be more defensive....

When was that? I've just walked straight from Hobbycraft (14:41) to the opticians by Subway and back and didn't see anything.

Bus stop outside the shop at the bottom of Queensville bridge. They were there , being attended to by some passers-by , at around 12-30 pm when I was walking past and still waiting for the ambulance when I walked back past at 12.55pm . Was wondering whether to cross over to see if I could do anything to help, but an ambulance arrived . Didn't look very good , and been bothering me all afternoon hoping they aren't too seriously ill.

Oh dear. I hope they're OK. Hopefully it'll just be the heat and they'll be ok after a drink and a sit-down.

Lying flat out all the time , and looking deathly pale :(

Also made me realise I should carry some sort of emergency contact details with me when out walking, as well as my phone ( thanks to a post some time ago on this forum, I've got it locked but sons and hubby's numbers continually going across the screen as emergency contacts. No good though if my phone dies)
