Should have picked up my new house keys yesterday but there has been a delay!

Instead we did the only feasible thing possible and have put our stuff in storage and booked a holiday cottage by the sea (20mins from house)

Absolutely beautiful day by the coast!

Hope your seller is footing the bill, once you’ve exchanged contracts any delays at a minimum should have the costs paid along the chain by the responsible party or parties. It’s there in the contract generally. If they didn’t do it, they get the money from whoever did.

Should be a seperate post I know but, way back in 1987 we were due to move into our home up Crab Lane Dec 18th, everything that could be packed up, including the tree was gone and stored at the outlaws house, we had the bare essentials. I rang the solicitors about sumat and the secretary there told us - ''Oh, the dates been changed, no-one wants to be living out of packing cases for Christmas! The suggested date is now January 8th.''

Sounds like a wonderful solicitor assuming they were yours... aren’t they meant to keep you up to date?

I was on the phone to the seller’s estate agent pretty much daily trying to get updates when we first purchased, as delays down the chain meant we ended up spending a good month or two more in a rental than we needed and every £625 matters when you’ve just blown a lot of your savings on a deposit.

My solicitor was mostly on the ball with mine, till the last hurdle anyway, but theirs was awful. Took 4 months with no chain, they'd take a week to respond to a fax even though the answer was usually to ask for more information!

I tried to leave a bad review for our seller’s solicitor as they were beyond awful, but they had TrustPilot delete it as we “weren’t a customer” as if only paying customers have things to say regarding a business

It was Hutsbys.
Reckoned they'd sent us a letter, we never got it.
Bit late now tho, he's still in the house.

I'm sure I've just heard a brief rumble of thunder and followed by a downpour and strong winds.

I checked my phone and was reassured to read that it was only a brief shower and gentle breeze. Good old BBC weather forecasting.

I saw a flash then heard the rumble, Alexa reckons we're going to have a small shower...... Belted it down here for last 20 minutes!

I heard a massive clap of thunder , followed by a massive downpour for a few minutes , earlier as well. Did see it forecast for parts of the country earlier on google news.

Timed my 2 & half hour walk perfectly ! Had just got home nice and dry a few minutes earlier .

Just arrived back after driving to the Tesco express to get some milk and there was an Amazon delivery van outside my house.

I parked the car on the drive and the delivery guy walked to the front door and asked for my details.

He then refused to give me the parcel unless I had my driving licence to prove I was over 18. Apparently me driving a vehicle and saying I was 58 weren't good enough for him.

He was about to take the parcel away when I remembered I hadn't unloaded all of the Izaac Walton Brewhouse beers from my car. When I showed him those he finally conceded that I must be old enough and gave me my parcel.

What it is to appear to be under the age of 18, eh? :)

I couldn't give a flying f**k about whatever *official* diktats are in place for Christmas.

Our Founding Fathers couldn't either -

Eldest turned 38, 5 days ago. Those that are acquainted with him, and I think there's a few on here, will know he is 1 hell of a hairy beast, he still gets asked for id in shops,
Youngest on the other hand, who is 8 years younger, even hairier and looks like the universal white mans version of Jesus, can buy anything, Alcohol. cigarettes etc. Till they both have their hair cut and lose the face fuzz. Then they look 12 years old and can't get served for owt for love nor money.

Sounds like Mrs T, but she's not working.
Have you tried turning her off and turning her on again?

Having rarely ventured past the front gate for some time, I decided to take advantage of the crisp, sunny day here.

It hasn't seemed that wet lately, but there has been a lot of rain in the nights and the river is quite full.

On the tops of the hills, the crispness turned into something more like Arctic - and taking the gloves off for this picture felt borderline dangerous.
