I feel no nostalgia at all for the SGI. It was a hateful place as far as I'm concerned and seeing most of it knocked down was a great day.
Brings back memories of my first ever visit to the theatre at age 7 , expecting to see clowns etc . Bit of a shock being wheeled in to see an operating table and a big smelly gas mask bunged on my face .

The SGI was the first NHS hospital that I had much experience of. Prior to that, almost all the places that I had seen were MoD establishments - full of staff, equipment and empty beds, waiting for the Russians to fill them up.

It was a bit of a shock - it looked like the set for a Carry On film.

There was still stuff going on there into the mid/late 90s, I'm sure.

They should probably knock the rest of it down too as nobody wants to rent the space. Everyone I’ve spoken to said it’s a pain in the ass as an office space due to being old and not really being equipped for office use

I don't even really remember it as I was about 4yrs old, apart from going down to the basement and having yellow oily stuff rubbed over my arm and it being bandaged every few days, then it turned black and crispy.... But you would never know, I have no scarring so they must have done a good job.

Looked like something was on fire near the old rugby club just before 5pm. There were plumes of black smoke, which didn't last long. I didn't hear any sirens though.

I have to to say, despite all the joking etc ... that when I had to call on the SGI services, I got sorted. And the physiotherapy dept got both my knees (damaged in 1968 and 1982) working with full bend which they certainly didn't have before. I only visited them for 'casualty' events wherein I was putting Newton's Laws of Motion to the test and discovering that Newton truly was a f****** smart arse. :|
Also, my Gran (Clay side) and my Mum (Ryan side) were both nurses who worked there at one time in their careers. So, although the building was a bit old and dinghy, I am not knocking the staff in any way whatsoever.

I also remember getting bitten by a dog on the Rec when I was a kid and my Uncle racing me down to the SGI on the back of his bike (I think an old Royal Enfield single) where they gave me a jab right into my thigh, which I vividly remember to this day. (The bike ride alone was traumatic.)

So for all its 'warts an all' I was glad it was there at the time. :)

I had Jack, he was great, very funny too. My new excercises are dead lifting and picking up credit cards with my butt cheeks! I kid you not! :xd::heyhey:

Then I whisked minime off for her jab, she's not impressed at being picked up from last nights party and whisked straight there, even though she wanted it....
That will raise some eyebrows if you pay for your shopping with your new found technique!

Just discovered a feature on Whattsapp that I didn't know existed ....'Share Location' for when I lose hubby and son around London next week. :D Bound to happen as I'm a short-@rse , so no-one can see me and I can't see above anyone else in crowds . I'd have no idea how to get back to the hotel by myself by train .

And if you also download the what three words app you can tell a taxi driver, emergency services, hubby or son, etc exactly where you are.

I tried this for something a while ago, it gave me 3 different words, twice, and I hadn't moved..... Seemed to just generate random words at me
