I'm alright Jack I've got a dingy!
I like to keep my dinghy from getting dingy.

In fact, here is my dinghy on my rather dingy landing, with its period wallpaper.

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
Knocked my laptop off my desk, tried to catch it, failed, lost my balance and ended up falling on top of it. Bent the screen past the point it is supposed to go, cracking the screen surround. Bugger.

My Beautician in Home Farm, Milford told me she had received a text today informing her the Lichfield Road through to Milford will be open again after tonight. Will still be traffic lights further up towards Stafford.

Opening a few days earlier than planned because of the Ironman event taking place at Shugborough on Sunday apparently.

I saw a rumour elsewhere, though I can't find it now, that this "opening" was only temporary, just for the Ironman event, and it was all going to be dug up again afterwards.

"Public" footpaths, bridlepaths, etc, that pass through Shugborough will be suspended for the event, I understand.

I used to live a couple of hundred yards upstream, on this bank - you can have a cup of tea in my bedroom now...

A mate of mine was fishing just downstream from here once and I stopped to chat to him as I cycled past. Unfortunately, he didn't notice my arrival and I put my foot into a water-vole burrow, taking both of us and the bike into the river. He was remarkably unamused.

Half of rural Staffordshire is closed for the event. Swim; 1.2 miles in open water at Chasewater Reservoir. Bike, 56 miles. Run, 13.1 miles, three laps in and around Shugborough Estate.

Bike course runs Chasewater, Burntwood, Longdon Green, Kings Bromley, Yoxall, Needwood, Hanbury, round Bagots Wood, Newton, Colton, round the Rugeley bypass, up into the Chase, back to the Rugeley bypass then up to Shugborough. Most of the roads involved are closed for several hours and parking on them is banned from 7pm the night before. Includes sections of the A515, B3017, B5013, A51, Penkridge Bank, A513 ...

A flash of inspiration has led me to find it.

I have, this morning, received an email from Staffs County Council informing me that the Bridlepaths through Shugborough will be closed to pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists over the Ironman weekend. An order to this effect will be made next week.

I sent out a village e mail last night pleading for more items for the village Fete tombola, raffle and other prizes....which is this SATURDAY.

AMAZED today when I woke up....on my doorstep, loads of books, bags of gorgeous toiletries including sanctuary, bodyshop,

Later today recieved from someone, 8 bottles of wine and from somone else loads of bottles of beer, cider, whisky, ....all to go on the tombola.

Just felt overwhelmed at peoples kindness.

We now have have about 300 tombola items of all new high end stuff.
