Thats news to me. So what dial should it be on if you want toasty feet?
I think were were talking about different things @Carole - my car is old & decrepit & doesn't have the buttons.

On @Gramaisc 's picture toasty feet are at the bottom of the dial (6.30), or you can have toasty feet & dry boiled eyes if you set the dial to 7.40pm.

Yes biut he said the button defines where the air comes from not where it goes to....which has totally confused me.

I thought if I had the control with the picture of feet then the air went TO the feet but @Gramaisc says that it comes FROM the feet.

At least that is what it sounded like he meant.

No, the buttons below the dial denote where the air comes from (or in my car its a slidey thing) , you can have air pulled in from outside to warm your feet, or you can use the air that's already in the car.

I thought exactly the same when I first read his post.....he's not very good at explaining things you know!

The men all knew what I meant - in fact, they all knew it already.

You can control where the air goes to - and whether it is sourced from outside the car, or recirculated from inside, quite independently of each other.

Recirculated air, in the absence of air-conditioning, will end up at 100% humidity - the unheated windows will steam up - the windscreen will also ice up on the inside when the car is shut down in icy weather conditions, if the car is full of moist air and has water condensed all over its (mostly hidden) external surfaces...

@Gramaisc Hahahaaaaaa! I've just realised what you think! D'uh, I should of explained it a little better ..... I don't have the buttons, only the dials (that's what I was on about with the air being focused on windscreen, or windscreen & feet etc...)

I do have a slidey thing underneath that lets me choose from breathing everyone's recycled trumps, or breathing fresh air from outside the car....I choose the latter - please tell me I don't have to breathe trumps???

@Laurie61 the car is old, the only air conditioning I have is 4 Windows & a sunroof!

The internet says that placing an open container of salt on the dashboard will draw moisture away from the windscreen, so I'm going to try that....however, knowing where I live - I envisage either being arrested, or, having my car broken into overnight....
I use one of those plug in crystal dehumidifiers on the 4x4, which gets very humid inside due to leaving lots of wet things in there. A couple of hours charged up at home then leave it in the car overnight, every night. Works very well.

I ♥ cryptic crosswords
Someone in a shop in the *Guildhall tried that with me 2 weeks ago....I had given them a £10 note for my £5 purchase, but they refused to give me any change.. after a small exchange of words she suddenly remembered that I had given her £10! She still didn't give me a receipt & when I told her I needed one she printed one out for a totally different purchase price!

I emailed their head office telling them exactly what she had done.....they are investigating & sent us a £10 gift card.

I knew what you meant, and last time I looked, I was 100% female.
Well I didn't! He confused me with all of his flashy-new-fangled buttons.

&, this is what we have men for, to sort silly problems so we don't have to worry our pretty little brains...

I heard if you fill a sock with clean cat litter and place it on your dash board it should soak the moister.. Haven't tried it but think I might and will report back.

It's been nearly 3 weeks since I hurt my ankle. Apparently it's ligament damage and can be very painful (no shit Sherlock!) I have an attractive leg brace and crutches. Nice nurse told me it could take some months to heal. :(

It's useful to have the air re-circulating when trying to initially warm the car up, as already warmed air will be further warmed and so on. Once toastiness has been achieved, remember to switch the circulation thing off.

Do people really not know these things?

I considered suggesting that, but was worried in case it was too technical.

I was asked the other day what the flashing orange lights mean on the crossing as you enter Wolverhampton Road from the Queensway....
