Isn't people skipping the queue what makes the nhs waiting lists so long?
Yes and no, the private wards do make money for the hospitals, but they’re only necessary because the beast has been starved for the last decade or so.
I would generally opt to go fully private (ie Rowley Hall or non-hospital clinic, etc) to avoid getting in the way of the NHS personally.
I’d rather it not be needed at all, but for a grand or two a year it means my (relatively small) team don’t need to wait 12 weeks just to see a physio, etc. If a certain mixture of folk are off, projects can grind to a halt as there’s very little talent overlap with us.
I’d be lying if I said I would absolutely not take it (for the right price) if the NHS ran perfectly, but the starvation of the NHS has definitely forced my hand a little. And of course I’m not trying to insinuate there that is nothing morally problematic with taking up private healthcare, but you do have to be a touch selfish (and sociopathic...) to run a business.
