That's greatly appreciated!Admin said:You will be glad to know, nhtpromo, that I have just made this the Thread Of The Day on the Stafford Forum Twitter: @staffordforum.
Obviously, the more people you can retweet to, and get to sign-up to The Forum, the better.
You should perhaps get in contact with Matrix Club Mix. They don't post much (although I wish they would; wouldn't want people to dismiss them as spammers ) but are very popular live.nhtpromo said:It's really good to see so many people are geniune about live music in Stafford.
They're nottingham-ish based so quite possibly. On a tangent I was in Leicester on Wednesday - do you know narlborough road? I was stuck in the mother of all traffic jams.nhtpromo said:Shoes, I think we've all got a little ska burried within us, somewhere.
We'll look into it!
As for Royal Gala, I think I've seen them somewhere before.
Possibly when I was back in Leicester.
Anything like Alberto y Lost Trios Paranoias?shoes said:I saw los albertos last year at the same festy and managed to throw a rum hot toddie all over the girl next to me. Thankfully I rescued it by licking. Gotta love those hippy festivals!
Ah that's the one! Yeah - traffic was bad. Saying that, the rest of leicester (that I saw) was nice, reminded me somewhat of stafford.nhtpromo said:Shoes, I do not know of any road in Leicester called 'narlborough road.'
'Narborough Road' on the other hand, yes, I do. I know it well. I grew up around there.
And, yes, the traffic round there is horrendous at certain times of the day - they've just spent millions on re-developing the city center but didnt think to re-develop one of the major roads into the center. Clever.
I was there again today, at the Uni... couldn't believe the police presence in Leicester though - phenomenal. I never had it down as that kind of place.nhtpromo said:Yeh, Leicester's a strange one. Quite a big city in reality, but it feels quite small and accessible in most places.
I do miss it when I'm not there.
I haven't been in since the revamp but i reckon the met studio could be such a place - i went to the LMHR gig there when it was the Malcolm Edwards Theatre and it was tip top (how good was a child rasputin at that gig?)Jheych said:The town is utterly devoid of a decent live music venue i.e not a pub ! or bar . Try the Live at the Pie & Ale House nights, i feel sure you would enjoy them - a lovely venue with a great atmosphere.anyway meantime live music events
If you consider that most of the towns haunts seem to cater for the 18-30 brigade and their particular likes in nightime entertainment , and that the Uni does something similar .
Then there must be a gap in the market somewhere for the extremes ? or "not very common" or whatever .
Oi, come back!Right...back under my rock for another few months
Why not do something about it then?Jheych said:hmm I'm normally a quiet little soul these days what with my advancing years and all I have become a "lurker" .. love that word
However I have been awakened from my slumber so have to say something
My take on the whole "music in stafford"thing
The town is utterly devoid of a decent live music venue i.e not a pub ! or bar . I'm reffering to a purpose built venue . This has been a problem for years and i can't fathom why in a town that is increasingly growing that we havent got one! I'm going to be too old soon to attend one even if we do get it sorted.
Yeah yeah , money, punters overheads.. blah blah . Course I know there are issues but c'mon seriously someones gotta sort something out soon .

for example - rock nite - Excellent idea , there is a fair ol sesh at the Tap once a month but no live bands and the music to be fair does include alot of the old school rock classics with some new stuff
Also already suggested 90s nite, britpop , Oasis , roses, blur, Primal scream etc . now it seems there is a huge market for the bygone days of britpop its very popular out there amongst the "dad" and "mum" types who go out for a weekend .. y'know re live the old student days etc . Additionally up at the Uni there is afair smattering of this type of ,music chucked in and the "yoof" still appear to remember or at least know it . so if anight like that was organised people would go ..I think ..er maybe - just have alook at how many people attended the butlins weekenders last year .. oh and there was also 80s ones too . so thats an idea
The of course 70s Glam mixed with 60s psychadelia ? ..well maybe not .. although i'd like it
Northern soul - always a winner
and of course the good old days of punk , maybe even mixed with a bit of the old goth stuff too
new world music may even be worth considering , bit of jazz maybe ..etc etc ..
Basically i think theres a market for every genre if you consider anyone over 30 . The youngsters appear to be well catered for and set in their nightime pursuits and establishments
Advertising would have to be good tho as you need to consider that anyone in these age group who could actually afford to go out now prob works outside the town and only goes into it at weekends !
oh and my shift key is stuck so no capital i im afraid ..lol
Right...back under my rock for another few months
