Just been reading the thread of how the Rickerscote Arms have gone bust and that it was previously The Alpine Lodge.

What other local pubs or places have changed name in your life time around Stafford apart from the Alpine Lodge?

Back in 1974 when we moved to Stafford the night club on the Newport Road was called Top of the World and know by as Top of the Grot, its now called Couture but I think it's had other names in between?

Zanzibar - and something to do with Cinderella, I believe, also.

Joiners' Arms - Mutant Turtle - and back.
King William - Dirty Duck - Malt and Hops.
Bath Hotel - Pitchers - Tavern.
Noah's Ark - Surgery - Palmer's - Pie and Ale House - Stafford Ale House.
Spittal Brook - Crown - and back.
Trumpet - Radford.
Crossbow - Lynton Tavern.
Sun - O'Neill's - some Mexican thing - and back.
Gate - Metropolitan Bar.
Apres - Butler's Bell.
Sheridan -Pen and Wig - Forester and Firkin.
Chains - Joxer Brady's.
Yeoman - Westway.
Nag's Head - Watermill.
Hogshead - Chambers.
Star and Garter was something else for a while, but that eludes my memory for the moment.

There will be others - Darts 22 will be along in a bit....

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
When Couture was called Top of the World the downstairs dance floor was called Cinderella Rockerfellas and the upstairs (as in pre-fire second floor which was not rebuilt) was called the Bali Hi.

"The Grot" was Top of the World' s nickname.

The Tavern was called Seamus O'Donnells for a while. Didn't the left hand side of the Colleseum have an American name around the time of the fire or just after?

What's the pub that used to be over the road from The Lamb (by The Windmill junction) ? Can remember going into it and it had a disco at one point and it changing names several times afterwards .(Don't even know if the building is still there as I've not been in that part of town for years)
