New McDonalds/Drive thru planned for the Hough Retail Park - not happy

Enjoying a drop of red.
Need to remember that the two exsisting mcdonalds are franchises. There may have been an agreement for maccys not to build another store for a fixed period of time. This may have lapsed now, hense the application
Or indeed, one of the existing franchisees may be looking to expand.

Talking fast food outlets, although not on the Hough Retail Park, there are 2 A5 Fast food Units proposed in the plans along with the New Coop on the old Lynton Tavern site at Weeping Cross.

250,000th poster!
I was in there a few times around the period of that picture - it was virtually a minor stately home - it isn't now.
There's some interesting things on that site, I can't understand why half of it was knocked down....but I suppose that's progression for you.. now, I'm off to find Ariel pictures of the Nuns nursing home just down the rd.....lets see what they're hiding in the garden....

When does that map date from - we were only discussing last night how frustrating it is that the 1901 map I have doesn't cover St Leonards

Oh boy, being a mere newbie to Stafford and only having lived here for just a few years, I'm not entirely sure of which houses have been knocked down and for what reasoning, other than "development".

It pains me to see what once stood on The Hough.

WHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY, people WHY!! ...ARrrrrrrrrrrrrrgGGGggggggHHHHHhhhhHh

Small example of where I stand on the matter; I wanted to use the carwash near tuther McD's Sunday afternoon and due to the traffic queuing for the drive thru, I didn't hang around, I didn't get my car washed, and same for the poor sods wanting to get to and use the Virgin Health place, I'm sure.
I hope you can see where I'm going.
Now, so, I didn't wait around therefore nobody got any money from me that day, same could be said (in the future) the traffic causing place, if they were to build on the Hough retail development.

Can some folk not see what is happening here and even more so, those on the sodding SCC?

I don't care for what they are told to do, I care for what they feel should be done for the better of the town, and granting a new McD's is not it.

We're not robots.*

How do you think some places in England (model towns) cope with the so called rules of knocking down (could be) heritage gems and sticking a shitshed in its place, i'll tell you how, they stand up and decline the offer on distorted development, on the townsfolk's behalf!

*well, some are, the folk queuing merrily for a mcD's on a Sunday afternoon for example.

Stafford is eating itself, and what'll come out the other end, isn't worth the paper it'll be wiped on.

Doing what they want to do with their time and money....

Stop being such a crybaby and use one of the other two hundred car washes in the town.

Especially as that one is fairly expensive and crap as well. You have a decent one on the Island and another on Silkmore Lane where you would be much better off and there are probably more...
