Review of Kings Horse.
... Opening food hours are 11am till 9pm with I presume normal drinking times as any other pub ...

So opening time somewhere between 10am & 5pm and closing time somewhere between 9pm and 2am then given the range of opening hours for pubs in Staffordshire :heyhey:

Anywhere for a drink?
actually, there is, mr. cynical..

we went in there on wednesday.. the place is massive, even bigger than we thought/hoped it would be, and there is a dedicated bar area which has a large screen (showing men kicking a ball around while doing their make-up), gamblers, stools, etc. just like you'd find in a pub.. there's no vomit on the carpet or snatters on the curtains, but give it time :teef:

food was smashing, atmosphere was great, place was rammo but staff were on the ball so didn't take long to get seated and served at all.. they do a "beer & a burger" deal every weekday, carvery every day, various other deals on rotation (e.g. curry wednesdays).. the place is kitted out to a high standard, loads and loads and loads of choice on the drinks front (particularly glad to see the missus's favourite rose was available) - we really couldn't ask for anything else.. they even had Despicable Me 2 showing on the big screen next to where we were sat!

we're already looking forward to going again! :D

Impressed if they are showing recent kids films! I'm scared to ask this, but you mention lots of choice on the drinks. Any apple based one? Preferably ones created from rather than based on an idea by....

i'm not a cider drinker so i didn't notice, i'm afraid - but they had a decent bottled beer selection (desperado, sol, newc'y brown, etc.) so i'd be amazed if there wasn't at least one cider that was up to your discerning standards!

You'd be amazed, I once visited a bar with over 2 dozen decent ales on tap yet they still only sold Strongbow cider!

I'll still go though, can't be worse than the red hill and I end up there every month or 2. Just means I'll only go for food, not drink.

Wow, this place was busy on Friday early evening. All tables full - and I'd guess 120-150 covers - Surprisingly good couple of real ales on - St Austell Proper Job and Marston Golden Hen - the place was very busy - I think maybe 11- 12 staff behind the bar, plus maybe another 6-8 on the floor. Everyone seemed genuinely impressed and very happy with their new pub/eatery . Wait for a table was 20 mins - not so bad for such a peak time.

Contrasting this place with Wetherspoons you immediately notice the numbers of staff - Spoons is a running joke about chronically minimal staffing levels and having to wait 10 minutes to get served - T'Horse was very quick - question is how long could they keep those staff levels up to this level?

Having said that, they appear to have the formula absolutely spot-on - catering for all age ranges with & without children, with a huge discounted menu. Carvery looked very nice indeed as well at £6.95 - TV''s with sport at very low volume if you wanted to watch and very well laid-out spacious planning hit all the right notes, and kids play area & front beer garden-type-area completed the appeal.

Turn the tables 2-3 times plus the wet-only sales and bar meals I reckon 10-15K per night gross on busy nights

Impressive indeed was my first take on the place - and I think I will be back, albeit at a less busier time
