Careful, you are almost agreeing with JM (although apparently a little geographically challenged). I must admit that I wouldn't think of going into Stafford for a meal except for the Swan, and in the past the Vine.

I am certainly geographically challenged but I'm not sure how you know that. Have I asked you for directions at some point? Passed you as I've gone round the same roundabout four times?

On this occasion, my geography is up to O-level standard. Richard Cullen comes from Stone (well, Hilderstone) and knowing the local market well, it's logical to open his new place there. Paul Gilmore has had restaurants in Birmingham and Uttoxeter but Stone is easier for me to get to.

Incidentally, both Richard Cullen and Paul Gilmore used to do a great deal to support the restaurant students at Stafford College, often without any publicity. Richard trained there and Paul's father was an ex-principal.

Possibly. Have you asked someone for directions who either gave you directions to the wrong place or who muttered incomprehensibly. I have a complete inability to remember name, be it people, places or street names. Can get very difficult if someone stops you & asks the way somewhere, placename sounds familiar but you can't associate it with anywhere. Just an oddball side effect of my dyslexia but the worse one to cope with.

I was cutting somebody's front lawn once, when a chap pulled up and asked me where a particular road was. I told him that I wasn't sure, but it sounded like it shouldn't be too far away.

When I got home, I looked it up and found that it was the road that the house where I was cutting the grass was - I used to just cycle there and look for the unusually coloured garage door.

I wonder what he thought..?

I'm sad that it's changing it's menu - and I suspect stock levels and wastage were a major factor in the decision - fish needs to be fresh - and I'm annoyed that we didn't have chance to try it out with the original menu - but hopefully the new menu will still be of interest.
