Planning and traffic in Stafford.... terrible?

Maybe the route around the town that goes Blackheath Lane, Baswich Lane, Cannock Road and through Acton Trussell/vice versa needs to be publicised better...

There is plenty of traffic, probably too much, going down Baswich Lane and Blackheath Lane already without adding to it.

I believe that the last traffic survey conducted by Staffordshire County Council recorded an average of 12,000 vehicles per day using Baswich Lane. With the (eventual) development of the Baswich House site, extension to Beacon Business Park and other developments that amount of traffic will only increase. When the motorway was closed last night, the traffic was queuing most of the way down Baswich Lane as people tried to find alternative routes.

So if we want to make Baswich Lane the de facto bypass, my suggestion would be to compulsory purchase all the houses on Baswich Lane and turn it into a dual carriageway (runs away and hides... ;) )

nooo thats the way i tried to get home yesterday at 6pm -crawled at walking speed all the way up Blackheath Lane from Weston Road. No road in Stafford is safe from an M6 closure.

It was in the year 2032 that the Rangers' pitch finally disappeared, sinking deep into the saltless pit left behind by the excavation work on the failed Stafford Underground Ring Road - sponsored by the JCB Party - after the Neo Con Coalition pulled the plug on the £68 billion project. Stafford, deemed to be the most marginal seat in the New Democracy Elections, was now number one in the 100 Parliament target for both remaining right wing parties, and both would blame each other.

Much like they had done in history

Rangers continued to play on in the Gazpron 9th League but had to play their home games in the nearest available grassland -Wales

I think Rangers are more likely to stand still and survive while others chase the dream and go under - this meaning we will make more progress. Where this happens remains to be seen. I see us on an outer link road at some point. The town's system will change eventually as the centre will be chocca!

What about a main road/dual carriageway running parrallel with the M6 on the west side of it -literally just next to it. it's pretty much only fields (some of which were for sale recently). It would be cheaper (I would have thought, but don't know the going rate for fields) than trying to build the eastern bypass and would be incredibly handy on the few occasions when the M6 has to close. Some people would still try to come through stafford but if a diversion sign system is set up then most of the traffic would go down the new road avoiding the town centre.
between J12 and J13 is one of the only bits of the M6 which doesnt have an obvious main road running near to it - the A34 does most of the way.

How do I edit this?

I'd be happy to see the bridges widened to two lanes to be honest....

Edit: particularly this one where I've had several hairy experiences with traffic coming the other way being unwilling to slow down.

The light priorities seem poor by the crematorium, plus they need filters.

They need to sort out all those narrow bridges as these make the flow worse.

Anyway
By the year 1999 we will all be travelling in our own Girocopters ( paid once a fortnight? )

It must be true it was in the Ladybird books in 1960

At least if everyone goes that way the main roads won't be so blocked up LOL

Of course, the best solution would be to get out of your f***ing cars!

I was so peed off this morning - some ***** using a courtesy car (with a phone number on - called them up to have a go, natch) was parked ON THE BUS STOP outside The Picture House - not only was it inconvenient for the person in a wheelchair who had to get off at the next stop because the inconsiderate **** had completely blocked the raised platform, this raises some serious questions in my mind: like WTF do they think they were doing parking on a bus stop, which is illegal, and WTF were they doing parked outside a pub for at least 5 minutes at 9:15am-ish on a weekday morning...

It's as is if the Baswich lane route is the route that daren't speak it's name. It's pretty obvious that the County council knows that the route is very busy, and pretty dangerous, but they neither improve the road or put further restrictions on the route(one way lights on the bridge etc) as they know it would channel so much more traffic onto Radford bank
