You are right @Gramaisc it is one of the roads that you wouldn't go down unless you either lived there or knew some one who livd there.
Dickie Newbold lived on the Salt Avenue corner, but I don't think that I've ever been down the road itself. Few people would even be able to tell you where it was, if you asked a random sample in Market Square.

I'd imagine if asked a random sample anything that passed through market square you would be recieved with a grunt or a remark of "you want sum?"

Forgive my ignorence in this, whom is Dickie Newbold?

This was his retirement.

In the centre, holding an object - glasses, sports jacket and waistcoat.

Normandy Landings veteran - a 'character'. Locals will remember him.

What a great photo! Retirement do?

There's a chap on the right, long hair, glasses and a white coat that I recognise. My folks worked up at the Weston Road cop shop and he recall was a regular at the Bethany Lounge bar there.

Those quiz nights - the best quizzes that Stafford ever had - are a long time ago, probably not this century.

That was also definitely Stafford's most luxuriously appointed drinking den at the time.

And you were fairly safe from trouble breaking out or being busted by the rozzers.

Absolutely! 20p games of pool, reasonably cheap beer and the potential of a lock in surrounded by the fuzz!

Mid 90's quiz nights with Colin, AKA Captain Chaos as I understand he nick name was....fairly safe as most of the patrons were rozzers having a beer, I do remember some of the team names...Dusty's eye lashes, and my favourite Norfolk & Chance....haha!

I can't remember who that chap's team were - I shall ask a fellow player...

My informant cannot recall that team name at this stage, but further sources are being pursued.

Jimmy Palin will have lived close to your new house, certainly on that side of the road, though I don't recall ever seeing him in a photograph.

I have tried the link that everyone has kindly suggested, but they seem to be for individuals rather that the property itself.

You can search for addresses in the 1939 Register on FmP, shows 48 addresses, preview button takes you to a transcription with a link to the original register. Lists everyone in the house with date of birth & occupation, but anyone born after 1916 and still alive in 1996 is redacted.

1911 census is also searchable by address and you can fiddle address searches on a lot of other things

Part of FmP list of results, some houses have two households hence duplicate numbers -
