Today I learned that money spent on the first year of an asylum seekers care can be taken from the foreign aid budget. In 2022, the UK spent Β£3.7bn of its aid budget on refugees in the UK.

So making sure asylum seekers wait at least a year for a decision doesn't really cost the uk more, it just means our aid budget is handed to serco instead of foreign countries?

I once spent a good bit of time trying, and failing, to discover how much of the 'foreign aid' budget actually leaves the UK - and how much is really indirect backhanders to old school chums, so that they can sell stuff that people wouldn't buy without the money being tied to it.

The irony.
You are more than happy to support the Nazi’s in Ukraine and no doubt have your flags & stickers showing but label anyone opposing yet more illegal immigration as being fascists, maybe the clique posters on here are in fact closet Canadians.
One dimwit amongst you even claimed that most of the people on the boats were from Syria (LOL) still your mutterings make for a comical read at times with all your virtual bullshite that the rest clap along to with their silly likes.
Putin apologist.

Even if there was an issue with Nazism in Ukraine, I fail to see how the invasion of a democratic sovereign country by a nation ran by a defacto dictator is justifiable. Idiot.

Using mercs that associate with nazism, including things like SS neck tattoos on Utkin (one of their now dead top brass). And thats before we look at nazism in Russia itself, like the RIM lot actively fighting in Ukraine.

The whole de-nazify thing was just a dog whistle for simpletons, and it shows Putin knows his audience.

From Hearts and Hands

It’s been all hands on deck with local community group moving from the premises in Beaconside to a central town location. The Lord Nelson which has been a public house since 1780’s will become the new Hub for Hearts & Hands. The pub has been closed for four years since closing its doors as the Nelson restaurant

Hearts & Hands was set up in October 2020 and is a self funding community group which initially helped and assisted those working families, couples and individuals, which were finding themselves in financial hardship because of COVID and the lockdowns.

Now assisting people who are on zero contracts, reduced hours, full time and part time workers, self employed blue light workers, retired, ex service personal and serving armed forces, suffering from the cost of living crisis helping by supplying free food hampers with enough food for the household for a week including toiletries and pet food.

Lorraine Conkey co founder said;

β€œWe have been blown away in the last week by the support from Staffordians, from Michael Carthy Accountants helping with paperwork to become a registered charity, Angela and Yvonne the owners of local cleaning firm Dust Demons, who came into to clean the premises as you can imagine it was full of dust and cobwebs on realising the extent of what we do within the community without charging those we help, they kindly waived their fee and instigated the call to action to help paint the premises, which was a bit garish with pink, yellow and green walls.
Within an hour of Dust Demons posting up on social media for help to paint on Sunday and Monday. Jack Taylor from The Great British Beer Company which owns The Devils Taphouse, Devils Bottle House, The Ship Around and in Leek the Hide Out offered to buy the paint and equipment needed and volunteer Julie MacArthur collected pots of paint from Screwfix, Wickes, Dulux and Jewsons, which was absolutely amazing

We have now took on the commitment to move premises into the town centre, we never thought our services would still be needed three years on. As we are self funding we have to fundraise to cover our running costs, through events and relying on the kind donations of the general public who realise they are ultimately helping friends, neighbours and work colleagues everything is confidential we realise that you are working and maybe have never had to ask for help before and the referral system is all done on line. We sell some suitable donated items on Ebay and we are fortunate that we receive great support from supermarkets, local shops and businesses, especially if there is something particularly needed like Easter Eggs or Christmas presents to place in our Christmas hampers for the children within the household

We work hand in hand with many other charities and community groups in the area, from the House of Bread to dog charity Boycies Bridge, Staffordshire Women’s Aid to Hidden Warriors to name a few, we are all working to relieve some of the hardships that people are facing.

You may of seen our branded surplus food tables in and around the Stafford area with food from local supermarkets under the Neighbourly scheme, which is collected by volunteers from the designated supermarket on that particular day, with items going into the hampers or placed on tables outside volunteer’s houses, anyone under any circumstances can come and take items for their household, all we ask in return that if you are able, to donate non perishable items in the collection box and the items will be placed into the free food parcels.”

If you need assistance please email or fill out the referral from on the website.

Would you like to volunteer as a pickup driver ?
The irony of that first sentence, considering boats would appear to be at the very heart of their problem, seems to have passed them by.

Not sure why this is causing more of a uproar than those in the judge&jury in middle of town by schools or not, if they wanted too those in the town centre can easily follow kids around **apparently that's what some people think they'll do etc I mean the college is 2 seconds away

Also hearts&hands ever thought about maybe helping people in crisis that have pets too? as they cost money obviously etc, I'm sure pets at home can supply some donations they have charity pallets with things damaged (sometimes very slightly) and might be able to help, or any charity/shelters in stafford in that case that deals with pets, think you have to collect though probably from pets at home store, i'm not too sure but I can find out more.

Sometimes the outrage is more important than the outcome.

Is it still a good deed if you have to tell the world or mention all of the businesses volunteers are involved in?

They probably don't even realise that Lord Nelson was opposed to the abolition of slavery.

Which one?

I know the pub sign refers to the β€˜ship chappy’ but Stafford has its own Lord Nelson

What’s the history of this pub?

Asking for a wrestling hold

As the pub was so named in the early nineteenth century I very much doubt that that was in anticipation of the birth in 1887 of George Horatio Nelson, 1st Baron Nelson of Stafford, the engineer who was chairman of English Electric from 1933 to 1962.

Democratically appointed government defending the sovereign territory of the state of Ukraine.

That is literally all there is to it. Questions about elections since the invasion etc are Russian bot nonsense and you need to educate yourself about how democracy operates in war (clue, look at what happen in GB during WW2).

It must be real hard walking around your house whilst nazi saluting you absolute shit house.
