On a mission to find one of the old style red telephone boxes.

Are there any left around Stafford area nowadays? I seem to remember one being by Walton Tennis Club/ The Kiddies Nursery on the Milford Rd not so long ago. Anyone know if it's still there?

How old are you looking?

We preserved ours in Bednall but it doesnt actually have the telephone in it anymore but it has been looked after very well.
The one in Acton Trussell may still have a working telephone.

Or is that lorry just about to dismantle it and cart it away? Thanks, will have a drive past on the way to find some deer on the chase tomorrow . ( I remember most of the glass smashed out of it last time I saw it there, and thinking it was probably a good job to let out the smell of it being used as a public loo!)

Thanks Carole, if the one on the way to Milford has disappeared I'll drive them around Acton Trussell and Bednall.

My friend Pom did this painting of our phone box.
We were about to lose it as BT were probably going to remove it.

We (the Village) bought it and also transformed the waste area behind into a little garden, we bought a bench, made a wall, planted shrubs, and made a bit of nothing into a little bit of special something.

It was lovely to see villagers coming together and working side by side, weeding, planting, digging, mixing cement, frindships were formed on this liitle project and it inspired us as a community to do other things.

Might take them for a ride around to see that on our way to the Chase if it's nice weather next week. Sounds so nice living in a village where everyone joins in together. (Better have a practice run around to find Bednall first, never actually been there or through it ....)

They've gone to town this afternoon to seek any shops that are actually still open. I suppose those 4 red boxes trhat used to be in the market square have long gone now ...(Not very observant of my surroundings whilst charging around town! )

They will be down in London in a couple of weeks time, so hopefully should be one for her to see there. Wish list of attractions to see...Buckingham palace (or as renamed last night...Birmingham Palace ) , Tower of London, Big Ben, Big Wheel , Big Red buses, Red telephone box..

The ones in Stafford were there at Christmas..
By the way, dont expect too much in Bednall. Blink and you miss it.

I've always fancied turning one into a shower cubicle in the garden to use after swimming in the pool. There's so many things they can be repurposed for, but I think that this is one of my favourites for obvious reasons... genius!!

My advice would be to keep your eyes wide open in Bednall - and don't get into anything made of wicker.

Of course, not too far West from here, the letter boxes are green, as they were here, originally - and the phone boxes are green and cream.

Weren't the phone boxes in Hull white?

I remember someone getting nicked for, erm, "self manipulation", in one of those boxes. I won't name names, but if I said he was wearing a mask and vampire teeth you can probably guess who.

Only lived here just short of 3 years, but I've noticed this evening we have one in Church Eaton, just opposite the pub.
