Any further updates? Obviously we can see it is taking shape but any idea of timescales or retail units? Etc..

I thought the civic was also being transformed but not heard anything about it since?

Unless things have the council will be the last thing done. However, surprisingly the council do not own that building entirely, the third party were dragging their heals.

the developer says the whole site will be complete and units open by summer 2016. The multistorey will be completed first, I have heard dec this year, not sure if that is the case or not.

H&M, river island, acadia or outfit as they trade, a mainstream mexican resturant but i cannot remember spelling of their name and that cinema although last update they would not confirm of 2 parties in discussions. Thats all I remember from the last announcement, apart from river island not else is moving but it will bugger up the guildhall as I think wallis and top shop maybe evans is part of outfit.

M&s has been taken by a major retailor but that will not be announced until the lease agreement is complete upon the development been completed itself.

Good news, the amount of bargain/charity shops was making that end of town look like the council were abandoning it.

I personally don't have an issue with the charity shops....its not ideal but they are at least being used...

I hope the M&S store or a unit in the Guidhall is acquired by Debenhams. A quality shop which should attract footfall to that part of the town, plus my wife works for Debenhams so I am hoping she can get a transfer!

I doubt it.
Debenhams were originally planned to have the 3 story building but they pulled out.
That is now going to be Primark.

I would much prefer a Debenhams.

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
I remember Debenhams saying that the new development "wasn't suitable for their plans at the moment". Allegedly, they are still interested in finding a place in Stafford but I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for it to happen.

Debenhams pulled out because of the length of the project. The guildhall will an obvious choice with its own car park and all.

the old m&s will not be debenhams
