Am I the only one that recalls the tesco car park being declared structurally unsafe and immediately closed several years ago?
There's plenty to criticise, but I don't think knocking down an unsafe building is one of them!
No you aren't. I remember that as well.

The new cinema probably will have an IMAX screen. IMAX have diluted their brand so much over the past decade that it doesn't mean much any more - in most cases it's just a sign that the projector isn't utter poop.

Personally I don't think it's IMAX diluting their brand I think it's more to do with Hollywood trying to squeeze more cash out or punters by converting their films into that standard.

All it will mean is that the screen will be supermassive (normally 20m+ x 15m+)... Not necessarily that the content will be much cop....

All I know is that the footpath closure is in place until December. Roll on getting back my lovely riverside walk to The Sun

Stafford Place still isn't finished, so why should the new Super 8 cinema be open before 2020, by which time no-one will want to go because every house has a TV as big as will fit through the door.

From what I have heard, the new car park will be open in September (yes this year allegedly) but the whole development isn't due to be finished until 2017.

The speed the rest of it's going up I can't imagine it will take until 2017 to finish. I'd got the end of this year in my head but I don't know where from

I heard the new development would be open in Spring next year. I can't remember where I heard that (I may have even dreamt it).

I would expect most of the building work would be completed by the end of this year given the speed its going up, as such its just the 'fit out'.

I thought work started on the car park midway through last year though. The end date is suspiciously missing from the newsletter and info on those sites

Well the first newsletter is dated September 2014 and the website says that the project will take 86 weeks so, assuming nothing has changed, we should be looking at somewhere around May 2016.
