It has to be Tandy for me, I spent most of my youth and pocket money in that shop. Good days.
I still have somewhere the free giant grey torch that was meant to induce you to keep going back to buy even more batteries.

God I loved that place, great shame :(

I miss the Reynolds Bar - with their sticky carpets !

I spent many a Saturday night ratfaced leaning up the pillar or dancing on the boxes on the dancefloor (usually when really ratfaced) thinking I looked really cool !!

Oh yeah - I remember spending £4.99 on a device that recorded telephone conversations - got myself into loads of trouble ! :strange: :strange:

SO IT WAS YOU!! lol ;)

I totally agree, i personally loved the place. My favourite was Thursday nights in the attic bar when the DJ's did competitions and stuff. I exchanged clothes with some poor cow underneath a bin bag on the stage. Won free drinks thee next week so it was worth it (at the time that was worth a full weeks wages to me!)

It wasn't a torch. It was a LIGHT SABRE! Seriously did you ever point it into the sky on a foggy night? That was one mean torch!!!!

You're right about the batteries, it took 6 D cells if i remember rightly.

Can't believe you still actually have it! How bizzare :)

That's right - 6 D cells and capable of lighting a camp fire. I will find in during the big clear-up that is supposed to be going on.

I half remember seeing a few bands in the Attic - some of the Animals, the Counterfeit Stones and Chris Farlowe come to mind, but there must have been others.

Sadly missed - The Surgery (in its hayday)
Packed full of people on certain nights, and had the atmosphere I liked. I spent most Saturday nights there as a student, and got to know quite a few people when tipsy!

Thankfully gone - The Surgery (in its demise)
Picture this - I turn up one Saturday night, wide-eyed and full of expectation... sat there until gone 11pm with a mate when it used to be filling up nicely, although this time nobody came. Ended up upstairs with 5 sweaty long-haired blokes in AC/DC t-shirts and leather jackets 'moshing' away to something similar to Slipknot. Never mind.

So the big clear-up is still on the cards them,

Don't forget the Hamsters!

Sadly missed, although thankfully gone for safety reasons....the deeper river bed in the town park area. They then put in a shallow concrete bed.
I had many an enjoyable summer holiday jumping off the road bridge into the river. Hundreds of kids used to do it. It's probably less than 2 ft deep now and would more than likely cause instant death!

also miss Spicemasters takeaway....well nice curries with copious amounts of radioactive, glow in the dark food colouring
