Just want to say that anyone thinking this sort if thing is boring men in scandals is well wrong.

I did spot some mullets, anoraks and a lot of sandals and socks on Friday night mind (I'm still puzzled on how you get a mullet in this day and age)

Good to hear that everyone is enjoying the festival so far!
Just to confirm there are still plenty of beers and ciders left to enjoy (75+).

Plenty of beers? By the time the public had left at 11.30 there was virtually nothing left for the staff party!

Don't know about Beer of the Festival, but I believe that the first beer to run out was Dark Side of the Moose and the first cider was Staffordshire's own Woody's

And for those of you who think beer is too expensive, Slater's have started selling thei own Top Totty home brew kits. £24 for a 40 pint kit. If my non-existant arithmetical ability has got it right that is 60p a pint.

I had a lovely time yesterday I had the following:

[*]Townhouse - Stygian Pale (they didn't have the Cascade wheat beer I really wanted to try)

I really enjoyed the Mortons Jelly Roll - the only beer I had twice, and both the Oakhams and the Thornbridge were excellent.

Honest the beer doesn't come from Hades, the hop variety come from Styria (aka Slovenia) - Styrian Goldings, which is actually a Fuggles type hop for the anorak wearers

Stafford Beer Festival wins Gold Medal!

Thanks to Stafford CAMRA for allowing us to do the catering at your festival, I hope we were able to reflect both your enthusiasm and the the fantastic choice and quality of beers.

I now have a long list of beer to put on at The Moat, Swan and Dog and Doublet.

It was great to be made so welcome by the CAMRA team of volunteers, great festival :)

The secretary of Stafford Rangers sports a very fine mullet. He's extremely proud of the fact that he's 60 and isn't losing his hair yet.
