Stafford Beer Festival 2012

It seems like only yesterday that the last beer was drunk at the 4th Stafford Beer Festival but planning for this years Stafford Beer Festival gets underway this week.

I know many forum members visited last year and hope you all had a great time. A huge amount of time and effort goes into planning the festival. From the fun bit deciding which beers to order, we take this very seriously and sample hundreds, to the more mundane like ordering the portable toilets. The first planning meeting is this Thursday 8pm at the Vine Hotel, Stafford. After that we meet monthly up until the festival, whether you can spare a few hours or a bit more it would be great if you could get involved. If you can’t make the meetings but would like to get involved just drop me a message on here.

Also we’re always looking for feedback and suggestions on how we can make the festival even better, if you’ve got any ideas please let me know.

Cheers,

David.

Thanks for the replies I will pass them onto our orderers and entertainment guy. Catering will definetly be sorted this year!

I think we had a few chocolatey beers last year, Titanic Chocolate and Vanilla Stout,
Holden's Blackcountry Mild, Allgates All Black, Moorhouses Black Cat.

Anymore suggestions for beers/ ciders or ways that we can improve on last year?

Don't forget first planning meeting tonight at 8pm Vine Hotel, Stafford. Please come along if you can.

Sent you a PM with contact details for Rowton [micro] Brewery in Shropshire.

"Rowton Bitter- A Pale Ale with a Crisp Hoppy Flavour ABV 3.9%". A good session ale and I've certainly enjoyed it a time or two.

Thought it may be worth an inclusion in LocAle section?

A few more things:

Food this year is being provided for us by the Lewis Partnership (The Swan, Bear Grill etc) so should be fewer problems than last year.

Entertainment for the Friday is .44 Pistol and Dan Walsh so we expect it will be very busy, best to arrive early and eat at the beer festival :)

Sponsorship: If anyone is interested in sponsoring a barrel end for the beer festival let me know! Cost is £20 per barrel, the size of the sponsorship display is A4 and the wording will be “ Barrel Sponsored by (Sponsors Name) and we will accept the sponsors own designed barrel end.

Volunteering: If anyone is interested in helping out at the beer fest there is a link on the website (www.staffordbeerfestival.org.uk), you dont need to be a CAMRA member to volunteer and you will be rewarded with beer tokens, food and a lovely festival t shirt. We especially need people for Friday evening.

Look out for us at Stafford Farmers Market this Saturday (14th July) you'll be able to pick up a flyer, the latest issue of Beer at Heart (complete with Festival Beer List) and have a sample of a Lymestone beer (either Ein Stein or Stone Dead).

Cheers
