Stafford chippy gets 1 star out of 5 for hygiene

Also, tbh, I'm not going to hinge my decision on whether or not to get chips from a place on whether there is "major improvement necessary" or merely "improvement necessary". 😁
Indeed, but I don't think the current Food Hygiene Ratings are fit for purpose and should be replaced by
5 - No risk of food poisoning
4 - Slight risk of food poisoning
3 - Moderate risk of food poisoning
2 - Severe risk of food poisoning
1 - Extreme risk of food poisoning
0 - Premises have been closed.
That's all we're really interested in.

Enjoying a drop of red.
It is not that difficult for a properly run, catering enterprise to achieve 5 stars. Anything less than 4 should be seen as abject failure.

Those making excuses for a 1 star establishment really need to take a long, hard look at themselves.

Indeed. It’s not like you don’t get warned, just bothering to deep clean the damn place the night before will stop you from getting a 1

Do you have oversight of a 'properly run' catering enterprise to pass such caustic judgement?

How's your rating?

I had this a few years ago on the Forum, I used to live next door to the old Indian restaurant on County Road.

It was VILE, they kept food in a fridge freezer outside (a household model not industrial proper outside freezer) covered in bird poo. They used a pot of sauce to prop the back door open on the floor and used to throw all sorts of crap down the drains (resulting in them getting blocked and stinking.) They had rats (and not the fluffy cute kind!) Plus gawd knows what else it was disgusting.

I remember posting about it on the Forum and someone told me I was a liar and they loved the place and would continue to eat there...
