Accrington Stanley ..... ( and der ferst one wot sez 'Who R they?' gets a gob full of fist whack. )
(I bloody hate TV adverts, but I can't deny, some just stick in your head for years and years.)
Yeah, but what was it advertising?
You're right @Glam ... I can't remember what it was advertising. So in that respect the advert failed.
Anyone hopefullyWho do you think will be your manager come Monday afternoon?
It was running quite well as a cinema I think - they did quite a bit of work including new heating and sound If I remember rightly. Was much cheaper than the odeon! But the new projectors failed and I think that plus the hit of covid did for them.Didn't someone buy this and do up a bit of it, opening one screen fir kids films in the holidays etc? I'm sure he posted on here...
Who's he/she/it when they're at home??Maybe the wonderful Luigi Macari has a plan
Lou Macari, football manager. But wtf that has to do with anything is anyone's guess.Who's he/she/it when they're at home??
Lou runs the Macari homeless centre in Hanley now, 50 pods (with numbers on so people have an address for completing any official forms, applying for benefits, housing, etc) with washing and laundry facilities. It’s a great facility (though I’m not sure it’s nearest neighbours necessarily agree) but as far as I know has bugger all to do with Stafford cinemaWho's he/she/it when they're at home??
Ah, well that’s makes sense then. I’m sure it won’t be the only empty building being “repurposed” this winter. Some homeless folk had made it their home, temporarily......
When I saw the Anti-Nowhere League, upstairs in Redrum, there were a couple of very impressive "mobility improvisations", to get people up the stairs - which are quite a challenge for the non-impaired.Honestly, having worked there for a year when it was the Apollo, it's much better served as shelter for the homeless than as a modern cinema given that the manager once made us carry someone in their wheelchair up the stairs due to the lack of disabled access.
I may be wrong, but I believe @gilbert grape has been pushing for it be a music venue for a while.Am I hearing it right that it's opening again as a music venue?
EDIT: I mean, I heard unofficially last week, but one of the people I hear is involved has now posted it to FB.
