I had an accident at work, got dropped off @ A&E about 3pm by 5pm was home (bet you wouldn't get that kind of service at the royal stoke or whatever its called) after being x-rayed and put in a temporary cast! The staff in all departments that saw me, were some of the most helpful people i had ever met in Stafford!! Then my return on Friday to see the consultant and be re-plastered was just as fab!!

At Royal Stoke you wouldn't have found a parking place by 5pm.

(I was in a bed next to someone who had a suspected broken toe)

Just to confirm it wasn't me I was given the two finger salute with my broken toe, nearly four months later it's still painful purple and swollen and Looks like a sausage, but I know not to trouble the NHS about it, but to just keep paying into the system and not to collect my £200 passing go (not that I'm jealous or anything that every person I come across with a broken digit tells me they have follow up appointments at the fracture clinic and physio lined up) although not surprised as another two people I know have relatives waiting hip ops and have been advised to go private if they can afford it. Rant over... takes another ibuprofen

Did try three seperate occasions (well nurse practioner) doc was impossible to get into, wasn't very helpful was made to feel I was making a fuss over nothing and was told it's a toe not a lot we can do and I get that and I know toes take a long time to heal, but I would expect a little or some improvement by now, I think they treat children as they would any other broken bone hence follow up appointments but I'm certainly getting the feeling that if they think you can afford to go private if they dismiss you long enough you will.

Its an absolute nightmare trying to see a doctor lately. I had to walk down to my surgery to book an appointment cus the receptionists kept picking up and putting down the phone to cut me off. I said ive walked dowm because you keep putting the phone down on me. She said "oh weve been a bit busy". Takes the piss it really does. You ring up and if they answer the phone its always "were fully booked try again tomorrow". I ended up getting just a phone call from the doctor to ask me what was wrong before he would book me an appointment, i didnt need an appointment just a refferal back to the consultant at stoke but he still wouldnt do it without seeing me so made me come in the next day for a ten second conversation, only for him not to refer me but send me for an xray to confirm what i already know, my broken finger hasnt healed correctly and wont bend! Im still waiting 4 weeks later for the twat to ring me back and and refer me. Its ridiculous!!

I had phone call from the docs too that's how I ended up with the practitioner nurse it was a complete waist of time they seriously didn't want to know I couldn't even get an X-ray on my two trips to A n E in two different towns, was told both occasions they could tell by looking at that's its broken (no shit Sherlock) but we don't X-ray toes because you can't treat them, the first visit they strapped them the second took the strapping off said it wasn't needed just walk on it as normal. No one cares you just pay into the system so ones who can't pay can get seen.

I had a wonderful experience at SDGH.County Hospital or whatever it's called now.

I turned up and rranged to get an ECG and bloods done by nice polite nurses all who spoke good English and were effective. In and out all required tests in less than an hour!!

Maybe it's a benefit of all the slating it's had recently, people prefer not to go there so I got extra fast service!

Just called my doctors to see whats going on and why they havent got back to me about my xray. Theyve sent a letter to my old house. I havent been there for 5 years pretty much now and filled the change of address form in at least 3 times over that period. Now i have to wait til the 27th to chat over the phone as they say i wont need an appointment! Almost a whole month just to get a refferal back to the surgeon up at stoke only to go through the process again.

Dropped off an O2 phone at Stoke Hosp ( it's the only network that works over whole site) for a poorly neighbour
Then back to The Heights . Took me less than an hour ( was being driven ossifer )

Wondering how long Stafford Hosp would have taken
