Stafford shops opening - Turning into a boom town?

They have an old style pannier market still in Barnstaple, and whenever I go in there it reminds of the old Market in Stafford with all those stalls dotted around and on the sides. Bit of magic that was on a Saturday morning. Never really took to the new market and the Guild Hall, it always seemed a bit soulless to me.
But I accept that's looking back through rosy nostalgia tinted glasses, which I don't normally do as I am a bit of a technology nerd. :shifty::embarrass:

Yes there was a kids play area as well. I didn't use the cafe after following a cafe worker out of loos, she didn't wash her hands after her using the loo (not just for a wee) and straight back behind the counter serving a customer (I'd assumed she was going to at least use the kitchen sink , but no.... )

I think many establishments now have separate staff toilets so that customers can't see employees not washing their hands.

there are pallets and materials in the unit next to Nando’s
Walked past this yesterday on the way to the cinema, looks like whatever it is is taking over two units? It looked like pretty major work. Tried to spy some details but couldn't see anything useful.

Does any one know what's happening at....

1) the site next to the old job centre

2)the former Bristol Street motors car park land on Stone Rd opposite little tesco.

I was under the impression Aldi or Lidlington had bought the land & were planning to open another store before covid struck

The site next to the old job centre is going to be Enterprise car rentals, and a Formula One autocentre.
As far as i know the Stone Road site is going to be a builders merchants
Not much hope for this world is there. A major climate emergency sees an increase in car and new building services. I know we do already have an enterprise. Is this an addition or replacement?

Enjoying a drop of red.

It's a replacement. Apparently customers felt Astonfields was too far out of town...

If we're getting an F1 Autocenter, then we can all look forward to an increase in broken down vehicles on the road, clogging the town up.

Given that Halfords purchased National Tyre recently, I'm expecting at least one of the 3 places they have currently will close at some point...

So what's the point of all this building when they have a building already. I don't understand why companies do this, it never helps them just leaves another empty property. Maybe it a tax dodge or something 🤷‍♀️

You know what, I bet it's feck all to do with dodging tax and likely everything about wanting to have your own property laid out exactly how they want it in order to operate their business..... Just a hunch.....

Ah so that's what it is? They should just build what they need the first time round. 😏
