I always find it odd that you can get a curry for a similar price to a pizza!Just because Indian food is at the lower end of the price range doesn't mean it's any worse quality. They're just more efficient.

I understand.I eat there if I need calories and can't be bothered to wait, if I want something I'll enjoy I go elsewhere!
Last time I had chips in newspaper was about 1985 - in Stockton-on-Tees.◄----- Pines for the days of the good old fish and chip shop. Where you got a free bit of newspaper to read with your meal, even if it was a bit out of date. (Chamberlain's visit to Munich, the Wright Brothers staggering into the air .... )
And one in Uttoxeter until not many years ago. There was a chip shop in Wainfleet where the fryers were fuelled by coal. Bit of a long trip from here though
Growing up in West Yorkshire where we had chips shops every 500m (I kid you not) they were still doing fish and chips in newspaper up to me leaving to go to uni in 94... Happy daysLast time I had chips in newspaper was about 1985 - in Stockton-on-Tees.
The chip shop was in a pre-fab garage at the back of a house and had four gas cookers running actual chip pans.
I was supposed to collect receipts for expenses, but I declined to ask, as the till was a series of cardboard boxes and the bloke in front of me had a bike chain hanging out of his pocket.
I stapled the newspaper to the other receipts and was paid back, after some argument.
All pretty fungibleOf course Stafford can't compete with Birmingham, however the variety of food is improving and now caters for more tastes and budgets.
We now have the Square, Tree House, The Post House, Liquor Tank, No.5, the place formerly known as the Hood, Pattys & Tings as well as a plentiiful supply of Indians and Chinese restaurants. I don't believe Stafford residents are against spending money but they've got have somewhere to spend it.
Embers / the hood & the Square's gone mate, barely lasted a few months, wish I had money to burn. The refurb took longer than the time it was trading for.Of course Stafford can't compete with Birmingham, however the variety of food is improving and now caters for more tastes and budgets.

It’s easy when it’s not your money you’re burning.Embers / the hood & the Square's gone mate, barely lasted a few months, wish I had money to burn. The refurb took longer than the time it was trading for.
The Square was open pretty much 5 months.... Hardly a few...Embers / the hood & the Square's gone mate, barely lasted a few months, wish I had money to burn. The refurb took longer than the time it was trading for.
For SaleFull Menu is here - https://treehouse-stafford.com/ that tapas looks a good selection.
Frankie and Benny's closed a long time ago...Well announced June 2020, think it shut pretty much straight after that...I like Italian food and it struck me, afterthinking of what we have on offer, that we have La Casa, Vivere, Zizzi and Frankie & Benny's in our town now. Not too may years ago I think we had Bella Italia!
I'm confident things will pick up at some point and those units near the river will be taken up.
