Stafford Traffic.

I ♥ cryptic crosswords
I see Stafford doesn't get a mention :mystery: I guess the road monitors despatched here never returned :strange:

It's about comparing eggs with eggs

The memory can deceive

Tesco aside and those unfortunate enough to live off the Lichfield/Cannock Roads, it ain't that bad

( it helps if you happen to also drive around other towns and cities during the week and understand that it's not 1973 and you can't drive north passed the Brine Baths anymore )

Re-digging up outside The Sun again now.

And water coming up through an inspection cover just down from Thomo's cafe.

Some real quality workmanship gone into that bit of digging. They were that busy fixing it today that 2 of the workers were sat outside Tommos Cafe having a coffee and a third was playing on his mobile phone.

Works and temp lights on the Lichfield Road between Baswich Lane and Lynton Ave now completed and removed.

Are they really leaving roads in this condition when they've finished?

The road past Vision Vauxhall and down past the units at Milford is horrendously bumpy.

They have had to finish today as they are digging up the stretch between the Baswich islands and Queensville island starting on Monday.

That stretch was resurfaced a few years ago and was a decent surface. No longer.

I saw one reason as to why. They'd dug the road up and there was no earth under the tarmac in places, but workmen were standing close to the edge. So the tarmac was probably deforming in places.

Yes. Well they were this morning. The one by Hillcroft is no where near being finished.

When the works further down towards Milford were being done, and the road closed off completely, I used to walk past every 3 weeks to a beauty salon down there .Every time I passed at 10am-ish there was absolutely no work going on, but plenty of bodies standing around talking by vans (and the conversations I caught definitely weren't about work) bodies in an office with their feet up eating sandwiches, bodies in what looked like a canteen hut sitting chatting.....Then on my walk back an hour later, exactly the same . Occasionally I'd see one bloke actually doing some work, with 3 others standing watching .

And a prime example of completely wasting time..one of the workmen followed me down as I walked from Walton Garage to way past the nursery, where a bloke was sat reading his newspaper in a digger truck. The bloke asked him to come back up the road to dig a hole. Bloke in tractor says "Yes, I was waiting for you to come and fetch me" He then proceeds to slowly follow the bloke sauntering back up the road to by the garage where the hole needed digging!
