I mean, can you believe this shit ?
I've just received an offer for a one night stay in Edinburgh wherein I get to dine on the Royal Yacht Britannia (just dine, not stay) which is now situated in Leith (once the port for Edinburgh) for apparently the ridiculously low price (2018 prices guaranteed) of £480 !!
You know why this pisses me off. I attended Leith Nautical College for my seagoing qualifications back when where this f****** Nancy ship is now berthed was Henry Robb's Shipyard, and looking out the back windows of the college you could watch a ship take shape in the course of a few months.
Back when Britain was a seafaring nation. And now these cactus up the @rse tossers are trying to charge more than my yearly grant as a student at the time for a meal I wouldn't feed to a dog.
Is it any wonder this nation is f*****.
(Rant over.) :facepalm::grr:

I've been asked if I would like to "get into load testing"?

Well, er, no.

In fact, I'm fairly sure that I've never considered it in the past and am even less likely to now.

I've just had an actual letter through the door, telling me that I can reduce my risk of having a stroke by driving to Yarnfield and giving some bloke £129.

I may write back and point out that they have slightly increased it, although at no charge to me.

Driving to Yarnfield to give some bloke £129 for a stroke seems pretty unappealing

Just had a card through the door suggesting that we could have our dog's teeth cleaned & scaled - for £99.

I've just had an advert from a company that describes their business as "Legal Recruitment".

Well, I should bloody well hope it is, or you really ought to keep quiet about it.

The chairman of this company wouldn't have the name of 'Tony Soprano' by any chance ? (In which case they might be a bit confused by words like 'legal.') :heyhey:

I am getting urged, in Irish, to visit Wales.

One on the main picture captions is Seo i an Bhreatain Bhig - This is (in) Wales - although it is literally This is (in) Little Britain...

Always amuses me.

If you went to North Wales, very much Welsh speaking in the Snowdon area (or maybe I should say Yr Wyddfa area,) would you be able to understand ? Are the languages a similar form of Gaelic ? .. I've always wondered that. My Mum could speak a fair bit of Irish (she came from Co. Limerick) but I think it had mostly faded away as she got older.

Very little - Welsh, Cornish and Breton are in one group, with Irish, Manx and Scottish in another.

You would get a better guess from the 'English' loan words, really.

Mind you, a Scot would get on quite well with the disabled parking signs at Asda in Cardiff.

Here's one of the President's tweets from this morning, as an example.

Irish- Bíonn cuairteanna treoraithe de chuid an OOP ar phríomhsheomraí fáiltithe Áras an Uachtaráin ar fáil beagnach gach Satharn ar feadh na bliana.

Welsh - Mae teithiau tywys OCC o'r prif ystafelloedd derbynfa yn Áras an Uachtaráin ar gael bron bob dydd Sadwrn trwy gydol y flwyddyn.

English - OPW guided tours of the main Áras an Uachtaráin reception rooms are available almost every Saturday throughout the year.

I don't think you would get very far with a Welsh phrasebook in Ireland...

The Welsh spoken in North Wales is somewhat different to the Welsh spoken in South Wales

I'm seriously concerned about who's been using my iPad. I'm getting adverts asking me if I want to meet"local mature rich women"
Could it be any of you ladies out there?
