I went in there once, probably late 80s, the night Torville and Dean won something or other ( in Sarajevo, I think - if I'm not mistaken ). Don't remember much else. Sorry.

There has been some punching involved at the King's Arms quiz on occasion - particularly up to about this time last year - but there were no fatalities. I recall walking in through the front door on one occasion to hear the licensee shouting at 'someone' "How many times have I told you 'Don't punch the customers'?" I do rather miss it.

I presume that wasn't a random guess. There are issues of anonymity here, but I am prepared to say that the thought of No 2 training up their recently acquired No 3 has led me to enquire about self-defence classes and to investigate the planning regulations regarding moats.

apparently this pub has yet a nother landlord, albeit temporary one, until his pub in Wigan is refurbed and another one at end of March taking over.. Its a shame this pub has got such a bad reputation, as on the outside of it, from a distance it looks ideally located and nice sized building etc..

Thought I'd get this thread active again. Has anybody been in the Oxleathers recently? We're moving to that end of town and Pubs are pretty few and far between.

Drove past this one tonight and it looks like a really nice pub on the outside but was dead inside. Any reason for this? I thought given the area it was serving it would be more popular?

Its too rough for the nice people and too nice for the rough people.

It's on highfields. Say no more.

I would rather go teetotal than drink in that neck of the woods.

So how do you class "Highfields"? Lot's of the houses to one side of the pub are nice and seems a good area then to the other side you work your way towards West Way which looks a bit rougher. Or are you tarring the whole area with the same brush?

I'm looking at moving to an estate opposite the castle. Seems like the nearest pub unless they build this new hungry horse.

I always thought it was just on Western Downs; mostly because it was built around the same time.
