Second - a friend of mine works up at Enterprise (maintenance) on Beaconside, and told me that their staff X-mas party was booked at The Post House for Thursday night, and 60 people, however due to lack of interest by the staff at Enterprise it has been moved to The Swan instead, gotta be a kick in the teeth for opening night, losing a table of 60, or even 20 (how many were actually interested)....
Uhm is anyone else a little affronted by this remark? If they don't really want Stafford people in their establishment then i politely suggest that they f off to where their target market live then!gk141054 said:So any feedback fatfrog? Was it any good?
Feedback from my contact who was there is as follows:
- when questioned about the high price of the food in the main restaurant, one of their senior member of staff (owner or manager, I forget which) stated "stafford people aren't our target market, its people from out of town"... this surprised my contact and me, very brave or very stupid, will people really drive to Stafford for a slap up meal... on a Friday or Saturday maybe, but what about in the week.... do they want the place busy or empty and "exclusive"?
- the people at the opening night all seemed to be from restaurants and bars in town i.e. Casa, Pastiche, The Swan etc.... why would they invite people from rival bars and restaurants to opening night, rather than targetting local white collar businesses on the tech park for example.... strange.....
Surely, freshly ground sea-salt?gk141054 said:Can I just add guys, please take my comments above with a pinch of salt.
From what I believe there is segregation in the building with the Post Office being the restaurant and the Job Centre being the function/club building. Somebody correct me if i'm wrong...tek-monkey said:Would you want a posh meal in a building full of clubbers?
gk141054 said:Can I just add guys, please take my comments above with a pinch of salt... afterall it is second hand info (even if from a reliable source) and something could well have got lost in translation. I don't want to be seen to be knocking the place a day after it has opened, having not yet set foot in there myself....
If this place can be as good as it wants to be then it could be a valuable asset to the town. They have spent a hell of a lot of money so must know a bit of stuff about a bit of stuff.... i'm sure they will make it work and keep everyone happy....
It might not be till February now as January tends to be very quiet in top restaurants. I don't like being the only table! In fact, many actually close for re-furb/maintenance during January. Hopefully by Feb there will be a set menu though and I will try it out then.tek-monkey said:I look forward to your review
