I remember the Bradford Points Factor when I workd at GEC (Alstom) could be fiddled if you knew how.

the bradford factor is now industry standard, and has been used at the last 3 places i have worked in addition to being used at the council, so i would be interested to know how it can be fiddled.. unless you simply mean that you would take a couple of days off instead of just one as it would have a negligible effect on your final score, but that's hardly "fiddling" lol..

maybe Wyred probably means it could be 'worked'as in 'Joe from the loading bay is working the system' factory workers that i've known often suffer from 'envybitchadulationselfrighteousparanoia' and in most cases redundancy/retirement usually sorts this one out.........

and back on thread (no need for thanks) Lee Perry, Arkology...genius........

I would be interested to hear your thoughts Wyred
With it being calculated over a 'rolling' 12 month period and you kept regular time, you could slip the odd week off on self cert, maybe 2 to 3 times over the said period and not reach the maximum points factor. It has been many years since the my GEC days and can't remember the calculation formula....

And by the way talkSPORT!

eh? that's not fiddling it, that's exactly what it's there for lol.. the idea is, the bradford factor allows you to have a couple of instances of absence within a 12 month period, as everyone needs a couple of days off here and there for cold, flu, hangovers, etc.. the calculation is:

(number of absences) x (number of absences) x (total number of days)

your employer sets a threshold that it deems acceptable, and if you go over that threshold disciplinary proceedings start.. the calculation is designed to penalise people who pull a lot of sickies (i.e. have a lot of single days off) whilst not being unfair to those who are off for genuine illness (who typically would have fewer instances, but these comprise a greater total number of days)..

so, if you pulled a sicky 5 times in a year (i.e. had 5 individual days off) that would net you a score of 125.. however, if you took a whole week off, twice in a single year, you would only have a score of 40 even though you have taken twice as many days off!

anyway, i am currently listening to the sound of Bargain Hunt :teef:

Thanks for the reminder of the calculation formula dirtybobby :) however it was deemed fiddling by the management, they knew what we were up to but could not do anything about it as we never breeched our points threshold....

still talkSPORT!
