Mexican* chicken & vegetable cous cous.

Made with Maggie so juicy... I'm never sure on how I feel about the bag included with this.... Thoughts everyone?

I use the bags frequently, our favourite is Mediterranean chicken.

Just stuff all the ingredients in the bag, then stick it in the oven.

All the juices and flavour stay in the bag and there is no oven splatter, what’s not to love?

Love the taste, I'm just suspicious of the bag, I usually cut it open halfway through & dump the contents in the casserole dish to finish.

Oh! Why are you suspicious of the bag?
Plastic? Or whatever it is, carcinogens? ... The same as the film on oven/microwave food.

It's just me, my dad aquired a microwave in the late 70's & i was always suspicious that it would lazer my hands off when I put anything inside it.... I hardly use ours even now....

Oh yes of course.

I suppose it’s all relative and we each have to feel comfortable with what we eat.

Beef, lamb and pork have also been linked with carcinogens so there is probably more of the bad stuff there than is in the plastic.

I’m not comfortable with eating sugar, to me it’s poison and yet most people eat it daily, puddings, chocolate, donuts etc.
I’m not saying that I don’t eat it but when I do,I feel guilty and aware that I’m putting really bad stuff in my body. So it’s a treat rather than something that I’d do daily.

The same with processed food. I’ll still have a ham sandwich or sausages but I know that it’s really really bad for me. Again a treat, not a regular thing.

So if I’m cooking some chicken in a bag, with loads of vegetables, then I’ll probably weigh up the benefits of the vegetables against the plastic bag.
I won’t be having a pudding afterwards so it probably evens out.

Edited to say, a vegetarian would argue that not eating plastic, or meat is better still.

I’m gradually easing off on the meat, but I still adore fish, I couldn’t give that up I don’t think.

@littleme I’ve just googled it (about the plastic bag) because it’s been on my mind.
So yes you are right, while they are generally supposed to be safe, it’s possible that the plastic might leach into the food.

Something else for me to stop using then.
Or use it but worry about it.
Why does the process of eating have to be fraught with guilt and concern?

Ooops sorry, I use & worry about them, that why I tip it all out halfway through and get rid of the bag.

It does make delicious chicken though.

Last night it was Chinese stir fry with chicken, loads of veg and noodles.

Tonight prawn curry (from a jar) but with added sun dried tomatoes, char grilled peppers and basmati rice.
